The good thing about meteor showers is they can come from all over the sky and they get their names just to give you a area to look even though they have nothing to do with a constellation (LEO this time)

This one comes from the comet "Tempel-Tuttle" so it depends on the angle that a comet is passing and how close.

I will have to look and see which star you are seeing in the east.

I might have a clearer sky tonight.

You probably also see the constellation Orion with the orange-red colored star "Betelgeuse" and that "belt" of 3 stars has a brighter one called "Rigel"

My guess is the star you are seeing is Sirius which is the brightest star in the sky besides the sun of course.

It is actually about twice the size of our sun.

Yeah Venus is the early morning planet for a week or two.

And I am not an early bird and it was a cloudy night here again so I didn't get to take a look this time.

But it was sunny today for the first half.

I brought you the Star Gazer for this time of year.
