Meteor lights up the sky
Scores of people in Maryland and Pennsylvania who lingered outdoors into the early morning hours Monday were startled by the brilliant flash of a meteor that soared over the Mid-Atlantic states.
Many more were rattled in their beds by the sonic boom that followed the flash. Sam Luther witnessed both events from a camp on the Susquehanna River near Delta, Pa.
"We were sitting by the campfire on the river talking when the entire sky lit up for 3-5 seconds," he said in a post to TheBaltimore Sun's Weather Blog. "It was as if it were daylight outside. ... Approximately 60-90 seconds after the sky had lit up, we heard a thunderous series of sonic boom sounds accompanied by tremors."
Both phenomena were almost certainly caused by the entry of a relatively large meteor into the Earth's atmosphere. To produce a fireball bright enough to attract widespread attention, geologists say, the meteor would have to be perhaps a few yards in diameter.
Based on readers' descriptions, the object flew roughly south to north over Central Maryland and southern Pennsylvania before vaporizing about 1:10 a.m.

Re: Meteor lights up the sky
That is my time of night of course but glad it wasn't seen here because we are getting a rare visit of the clouds and even some rain drops the last few days........long overdue especially since for the last damn time I am reseeding my putting green.
Last time that happened here I was on this pc next to the window and the sky lit up bright and I just thought it was the goofy wife turning the flood lights off and on again so I never even looked out the window to watch the ball of fire cross the sky.
Just my luck
Here is the website I have been using lately to see what is happening and the position of the planets/stars/and all the other things they can show and predict.

Re: Meteor lights up the sky
That is one of the good things about having camera's everywhere these days........nice video of your meteorite.
But just looking at that tells me there is not much of a chance at finding anything on the ground......she probably turned to dust way before it made it to the ground.
