UPGRADE to Windows 10
Did that free upgrade on my laptop yesterday and still have to do my other computers.
It was fast and easy and saved everything from the Windows 7 that I wanted to keep and all the programs started right back up.

Re: UPGRADE to Windows 10
Here I go again........doing upgrade to Win10 on my 4th computer........and letting them know what I think they should change so people won't bitch or tell me Mac or linux is better
Once it is all running I like it BUT I know how rookies will try doing this and then cry like little babies
BUT I did like seeing the Mariners and Seatoucans losing yesterday even with their now awful Felix on the mound

Re: UPGRADE to Windows 10
Well I finished another one so that is 4 upgrades to Win10 and each one has been different after the install.
Like one other one I had to do a new download of the video card drivers and this one also needed a clean install of Oracle Virtualbox for doing the science work.
It also had a few Windows Updates to do first thing.
It would all be easy if my DSL didn't SUCK SUCK SUCK
But now up and running like new and this was the only one that was Windows 8.1 which I didn't like but never used it for anything other than science projects.
Two more Win7's to do and I will save the XP Pro until next Spring

Re: UPGRADE to Windows 10
Still running XP on my desktop PC!! I can't upgrade this machine as it's older than dirt. Not sure I want to anyway. I do most of my stuff on my phone or my tablet (well, except for all that Bookie Challenge spreadsheet stuff). Sooner or later the desktop will be replaced by a new tower running Windows 10 but I'm in no hurry.

Yeah the main reason I do this is it is a free upgrade until next July or maybe longer but only from Win7 and Win8.1
I have a XP Pro that has been running 24/7 since 2004 BUT I have a Win7 disk so next Spring before they end the free deal I will upgrade it to Win7 with the disk and then upgrade to Win10 so I will have all 6 for free and.......well I have used my XP Pro and Win7 disk a few times over the decade
The best part of doing the update from XP Pro to Win7 is it will be a 64bit instead of the old X86 32bit
The old 32bit only allows your pc to use 4GB of Ram no matter how much you have plugged in.
A couple years ago I upgraded its twin pc to Win7 and plugged in more Ram and a GeForce card I got for free so now the old 3-core is the fastest data processor in my fleet ...it just has 8GB ram now but I could add more.
Here is my list of pc's and you can see the XP Pro and its former twin is the one with the GeForce 560Ti card

So I still have 3 different OS's running after I replaced that 8.1 yesterday.
All you need is a Win7 disk and you can do the same thing........lol.....stop by and I will do it for you
