Too bad I didn't hook you sooner Kurt !!

Back when I got mine in December the price was almost $2 an ounce cheaper which is why I got that 100 Oz bar (I don't mess around)

And the reason I got the Silver Eagle 1 oz coins is their value goes up more than just the price of silver.

I look at that site you got yours but I still prefer JMBullion for the free shipping and the website is so much better and easier to find what to get.

http://www.jmbullion.com/silver/

You can see there those coins almost double the price a few years later just by being BU where my 100 Oz bar only goes up or down according to the basic metals price.

I check the price every day (and of course at the bottom of all my posts has the up to date prices) but the price went up so I will just wait for it to drop back down so I can get more of the 1 Oz coins.

The main thing is don't touch the silver with bare hands (use clean clothe gloves if you have to but I just used paper towels) that way they stay new and bright silver.

I try not to check prices every day, drew keeps me pretty much up to date, and the only coins I collect are the maple leafs and the eagles,

I have a tea set from early 1900's from my great great aunt, I'm thinking about doing something with that, its all packed away and bulky.

Well if the tea set is solid silver just pass it on to Drew since nobody will give you what it is really worth if you try to sell it.

(yeah I watch the PBS tv show about antiques all the time too lol )

I just inherited a nice chunk of silver..........

My dad passed last Oct. and we`ve been slowly going thru things of his and my Mom`s.

For whatever reason,I feel like I`m being nosy and stealing while we do this. mischief

But it has to be done. bluehoo

But anyways,in the drawer of the gun cabinet,he had some old money stashed away. theres like 12 sandwich bags full of dollar coins,50 cent pieces, silver qtrs.,mercury dimes, nickles, pennies and of course silver certificate bills from 1$ to 20$.
The bills look to be in very decent shape.........The coins maybe,I just at them thru the bag.....I really don`t feel like I should be doing this. Its not right. sucks

And yes I have two bros. left and a sisier to split this with.....So it`ll be nice to see what we/I get out of it.

The gun I inherited,my Mother bought this for my Dad back in the day for either a wedding present/1st yr. anny/2 yr. anny present.
Its a .22 caliber Marlin Golden 39-A lever action rifle.
Bluing is still all there and the stock is has minor dings.it looks like it has not been shot in years. I would say its not pristine, but its still in excellent condition. No pitting what-so-ever.

I can`t find a year on it,and keep looking around the internet to find a year, but havn`t found the right one yet.

Magic you got a book on old guns?
or anyone with any knowledge of guns to help me out on this?.......please and thanks

A 100 ounce bar of silver?........nice.

My question would be,where the hell would you take it to go sell it?

And are they gonna give you straight up silver price?

Or are they gonna give you Pawn S?tars prices? hammerhead

I would NEVER try to sell anything to that Pawn Stars crook sucks

There are lots of places to sell silver and you just look for the ones who pay the most and of course it makes a difference if the price of silver has went up enough since when you buy it.

The places we buy it from will buy back from you but less than you paid them or at least less than what they are selling it for at the time.

Like I mentioned before the value is always higher if they are never touched coins or bars so they look like they are fresh from the place that made the coins or the bars.

I have never owned a rifle like that one you have but some places save all the info like the serial numbers and when and where they are made.

I got the date on my Desert Eagle by sending the company the number.

Is this the one you have??

You did the Check & Wire Price????

Did that include shipping???

Total.  To my door.   There's some odd change, but you know…

I don't want to mess with coins, I don't have time to look at/for those.  I just wouldn't mind having a shiny little pile of silver.

I lied.  Sales tax added. $194 to my door. Thank you, guvnah Pence.
It was delivered US Postal to my office yesterday.

Yeah you should have taken it just because it was your Dads......I shot guns as a kid but didn't own one until 1995 when dopes first broke into my garage the same night after I watched that Colts-Steelers playoff game.......so I was already in the mood to have a gun after that rambo

If I can find a place to look up your serial number I will let you know or you could email the company and ask if they can do that.

They have to be real old and rare before they are worth much anyway.

Yeah I figured you had to have some added to that price since they charge shipping.

I remember my first order and was worried about that USPS shipping instead of UPS but it turned out to be fast and secure all the way to my post office where I had mine sent.

Must be easier to ship to a big-shots office in the big city too king

This I figured anyways........
The story how he attained has more senmtimental value than what it would ever be worth.

I`m giving my Dad`s friend the shotgun next Friday..The wife says she don`t think there would be a problem asking for it back when he has no use for it.

He has like 250 guns now. very few hand guns. so its in a nice safe place........ hellyes

Well Magic.......

You guys talked me into it..I do believe before tonights over,I`m gonna spend some of my hard earned dollars on some silver.
probably the place you mention above sincee it was the listing on Google when I googled where to buy silver.
Don`t let me down!! lol

Also the other day I found the serial number underneath the lever of the gun I inherited......its a 1960.

And I found this one sold on Gunbroker:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=466439456

its the exact same everything but I don`t have the paperwork that came with the gun...........its almost as near flawless as this one.And shot very little.

but it will never ever be for sale as long as I`m living. 357_SmithWesson

THIS is where you should buy SILVER

http://www.jmbullion.com/silver/

In fact as you can see the price dropped 21 cents today so you get that price until it starts back up in the morning.

ok so tell me..........Whats the difference between a 10oz bar going for 173.20 and a different 10oz bar going for 230.30$

Some have serial no.s hat they claim start at 101-500.

10 oz. is 10 oz. no matter how you look at it.

collectability?

cause I really think the collectability of that is nonsense.
But it sounds like there a few of you that have the expertise on this.

So tell before I leap into something I`m not familiar with.............Please and thank you

Yes that "collectible" price on the BARS does seem a bit odd but some are rare and made at special places.

BUT you are better off buying one of the ones closer to the actual OZ price like you will see here

http://www.jmbullion.com/silver/silver-bars/

I would pick the 10 oz Sunshine Silver Bar myself and they also sell the ones that come from another site.

Right now they are $181.38 with free shipping and that is the best price for a 10 oz bar

As far as collectible I only buy 1oz silver coins like the US Silver Eagles or the Canadian coin or the British 1oz coins and they come *BU* or "Brilliant Uncirculated" and the value of those tends to rise above the actual price of silver.

You can get the current price or watch early in the morning and see if it drops at all and make a quick purchase current AT COST

after reading thru all of this thread,Crav,I think your right:

"Why pay a shit ton more for a graded coin when an ounce is an ounce"?

I mean, this day and age,if it takes a microscope to look at a coin to figure out which coin is of the better, then to me it would not be of any more value than the other.

it would be different if you were talking money from the years past.

And what got me thinking about all this was a commercial last night that was selling gold coins at 145.00 per coin. I told the wife that coin had to be awful small or very extra thin.lol

NO NO NO don't read what Cravn said about that.

He is talking about that goofy site he buys from and they have insane prices for coins which I NEVER would buy.

Right now a roll of 20 1oz Silver Eagle coins is $407.06 in PERFECT condition.

And NEVER pay attention to a TV commercial.

I know wtf I am talking about.

http://www.jmbullion.com/2015-american-silver-eagle/ <----that is 20oz's from those 20 PERFECT coins.

*BU* has NOTHING to do with having experts look at them (you must have skipped my posts before this)

I don't collect shit because it has a goofy picture on it.....I go by the BEST investment.

as I am typing this the price is dropping tonight.

NOW the 10oz bar is $180.02

The 20 Silver Eagle coins are now $404.56  YOW

BTW remember when you buy any of this DO NOT handle it......maybe use clean cloth gloves......I just used paper towels myself but you can't touch silver with you hands since it fucks it up and then it is worth LESS if you ever try to sell it......especially coins.

But a crappy looking bar will not be worth as much as my PERFECT 100oz silver bar or my 60 Silver Eagle coins  sunny

10oz bar dropped again to $179.40

20 Silver Eagles dropped to $403.94

I may be buying some coins tonight  hellyes

So far tonight Silver Ask 16.20 -0.45 Open: 16.65 High: 16.79 Low: 16.15

NO Problem Barry

I like doing this as much as concrete king

When you get bars sometimes they are just a a paper box so it is sort of hard to keep the fingers off of them (my 100oz bar is in a box and then I put it inside a big zip-lock) but the coins come in a plastic tube that they are put in at the place the coins are made so they are UNTOUCHED by humans.......that is what *BU* means........this is not the same as those "ratings" you hear about........that stuff is just BS

So if you buy coins get the roll of 20 US Silver Eagles 2015 and ignore all the other years.

And bars from the Sunshine mint are the best as far as price and condition

LOL yeah I agree.........the US Silver Eagles are the best but I want a roll of the British 1oz coins since the queen is on one side and I guarantee the price will fly up into the sky when she dies.

The 10oz bar is still at $180.34

http://www.jmbullion.com/10-oz-sunshine-silver-bar/

Crap the price is going back up again.......I should have grabbed some when it dropped 45 cents because it went back up 10 cents

I thought something was a little different when I kept clicking on different coins and such.

And whats the difference between proof and certified?

Other than the price?

Proof are special coins that are perfect early strikes at the mint and always cost quite a bit more than the rest and especially the *BU* coins.

Yeah the price has been changing the entire time which is why I was editing my posts and adding the new prices.

When this happens on friday the price stays the same until monday morning.

Certified is just another way they charge you more by having a company certify it and put it in a plastic cover with the rating on it succh s MS69

Don't even look at those when it comes to buying.

These are the ones to watch (other than the Canadians and British) http://www.jmbullion.com/silver/silver-coins/american-silver-eagles/uncirculated-ase/
