busy month in the skys
April 22, 2014 before dawn, the Lyrids
The Lyrid meteor shower – April’s shooting stars – lasts from about April 16 to 25. Lyrid meteors tend to be bright and often leave trails. About 10-20 meteors per hour can be expected at their peak. Plus, the Lyrids are known for uncommon surges that can sometimes bring the rate up to 100 per hour. Those rare outbursts are not easy to predict, but they’re one of the reasons the tantalizing Lyrids are worth checking out around their peak morning. The radiant for this shower is near the bright star Vega in the constellation Lyra (chart here), which rises in the northeast at about 10 p.m. on April evenings. In 2014, the peak morning is April 22, but you might also see meteors before and after that date. There’s a last quarter moon in the sky during the Lyrid peak, which may somewhat subdue the number of Lyrid meteors in 2014.

Good timing. Back surgery tomorrow. Good possibility of sleepless nights for the next few days... guaranteed that the show in the sky will be far better than anything on TV... Now, if the weather will just cooperate and be 60+ and clear for the next few nights...

Sunny day here today thanks to the mountains making the rain go north and south of us before it gets to Seattle.

Thank ya, sir! It's all good. Can't wait to get back to my walks and actually being able to climb stairs! One-legged insurance agents aren't worth a damn to anyone!

Neither are one-legged 'toon pilots, one-legged golfers, or one-legged lovers. Well, maybe you can do that last one but it still might hurt a bit.

Re: busy month in the skys
I'm really not a fan of the pain pills… If Jimmy would like to bring that $29K over, I'd make him a helluva deal!
Day after surgery is worse than it was before. Sore as hell. But I'm up and moving. Hard to sit for long.
It was an impressive blowout, according to the Doc… L3,4,and 5. Have pics of what they removed… but you really don't want to see them.
He said it could be a year before I'm back to normal. I'll be there before the summer is out.

Glad to hear you are up and about, each day should get easier for you. If you are seeking therapy in a couple of weeks, I had my longest stint in between back surgeries with aqua therapy.

Last surgery was in 1995-6, so hopefully I'm good for awhile. Obviously the ones that led to the cortisone shots, so I'm real positive about this.
