Re: Getting busy with it.......
I almost mentioned that here but didn't want to bore you all
Once again we had an electrical problem but we did get a proton-proton collision.
Guess I will post a few of my links here from us mad physicists.

Unless those itty-bitty collisions make people want to buy their insurance from Fieber & Reilly, Inc. in Indianapolis, IN... Scarlett, I don't really give a damn!
Hell, if it made the current customers of Fieber & Reilly, Inc. in Indianapolis, IN pay their premiums on time, I'd care about it then, too.

But don't you want to know how it all began? The very beginnings of how we got here might be found. Man needs more than insurance.......Even if I don't understand any of it, I hope they can advance man's knowledge of the universe and how it was formed. Plus, maybe insight may be gained on how to pick winners for the challenge.....

Right now, I have a thirst for bill payment ability... I'll let smarter minds than mine figure all that other stuff out.

Re: Getting busy with it.......
Yeah we actually turned the pellet stove up to medium for an hour or 2
This morning I had the fun of the wife screaming and bitching because the well pump was off and I figured it froze up in the pump house since that is the only place where the pipe is not wrapped (I need to get some heat-tape I guess) but I went out and my propane torch was empty and then I checked and the pump was off so I flicked it on and the water came back but the pressure is supposed to be 40lbs and it was up over 100 so I told her to get in the shower and run the pressure down
I went to the garage and got one of the heaters in my collection and put it in the pump house for now but I hate running up the damn light bill
As I was walking down to the garage I had to test the ice on the pond....stood on it with my 250lbs and not a bit of that CRACKING sound so if the weather stays like this I will have to do some rubber boot skating
BTW Al Gore you theif......first time in 22 years that I have walked on water here in this global warming 7 degrees we had last night
Glad I wrapped up the plam tree in it's winter blanket last week

Re: Getting busy with it.......
We have the water freeze many times in my 25 years here......not actually the pump because this is a drilled well so it is a pump dropped way down the pipe about 45 feet.
It is a 2ft heavy steel pipe that goes from the top of the well pipe over to the pressure tank (which I replaced last year so I didn't have to get robbed by a plumber)
The pump was here before me so it is about 30 years old.......so I expect it to crash on the coldest weather possible so I can have the fun of hauling in creek water to put in the toilet tank.....and we only drink store water that we buy on sale by the gallon so we have coffee any time.
If they sell those submersible pumps at Home Depot I probably should get one just in case......and I was here years ago when a plumber had to pull the pump out to fix a crack in the pipe so I saw how that works but it would take 2 people to pull that thing out.

Re: Getting busy with it.......
Holy hell your well is only 45 ft deep? Mine is at the State minimum of 125 ft, the driller was getting good water at 90 ft, but he has to go to 125. Thats why yours is freezing, ah ha.
I take it your freeze line is not deeep either, ours is 48 inches..This might be the year w test that 48" freeze line, I dont ever remember it being this cold this early in the fall/winter season.
Its even affecting my boys at UPS, we got snow and ice which delays production, which keeps getting heavier and heavier the closer you get to Christmas..They were forced to work last Saturday (which is a big no-no in the Book according to cravnravn) just to catch up with the volume of packages that were not delivered because of the snow.

Re: Getting busy with it.......
The mini girl in the UPS truck was just here....I hear a knock on the door and I go right to it and I open up and she is already in the truck driving down my frozen driveway.
I didn't open it since it is my crazy holiday Catholic girl doing her thing (in fact is off shopping with her sis for the 5th straight day and it isn't close to here....over in the big city)
The reason my well is only 45ft is I live at the end of the valley here (there are 4 valley's in a line with a ridge between them from the ice age days)
So the well has a concrete slab over it and that tower building on top of that and inside the building (which I need to clean out and nail up plywood before all the insulation falls down)
The well cap sticks out of the concrete and then a heavy duty steel pipe goes 2ft to the pressure tank so that is the only place it can freeze and it should be wrapped but 3 threads on the pipe sort of leak just enough to be a cup of water a month and it is a job only a plumber could do (I am not close to being one)
But I only have my secret stash because I hate to give it away
I bought some of that putty shit you squish together and wrap around the threads to stop the leak......just sitting out there......I tend to have too many projects going in the spring and summer.......oh and I had to have heart attacks after mixing over 100 bags of ready mix by hand.
Yeah the treasurer is goofy like that
At least I made it to one game with you guys (2 with Cole)
Happy Chanukah
