20 Years Ago This Month
On the 22nd.....was the final Tonight Show with Johnny Carson
Which means the first show was 50 years ago.
Man this must be a sign of being over the hill.
I would fake like I was asleep in the 1960's so I could watch while my parents had the 90min show on and after that I watched it every night through HS on my own tv.
I just watched the 2 hour PBS program about Johnny Carsons life until the day he died because of those tobacco devil sticks January 23, 2005
Watching the Tonight Show
It was the way we would end each day all the way until 1992
That will never happen again.
Too bad you youngsters grew up with those clowns that tried to imitate him.

I can recall back in the 70's my Mom had my TV on a timer and it would shut off nightly at 11Pm, I would hear it click off than would sneak out of bed and reset the timer for 1am..Loved Johnny Carson as a youngster.

Re: 20 Years Ago This Month
Yep!!
Same here.....I watched Carson every night during high school, during the early 80s.
Jim Newhart came on after that.
Or Benny Hill
I had to come back and edit this post because I have no idea who "Jim" Newhart is
Maybe I meant to say.....Bob Newhart
But a lapse in memory is ok since I haven't seen an episode of Newhart since high school......about 8,000 years ago.

Funny you would mention Bob Newhart........us real old timers remember he had differnt versions of his show with the same name AND they are still on every day on that channel I mentioned before.

Bob Newhart and Dick Van Dyke do commercials on this channel.......and they even have one for the Rifleman with the guy who played Mark McCain the son of the Rifleman Lucas McCain (Chuck Conners)
I watched the Tonight Show and then The Late Late Show with Tom Snyder in the 70's and Dick Cavette if he had a guest I wanted to see back then.
