Alright, in 25 minutes the ISS is supposed to basically come right over my head... from WSW to NE. I'll make you two happy and go out ant check it out. Will let you know if I see it.

Re: Venus and Jupiter
Yup. Saw it. Vega was brighter, but not by much. That thing was very visible and moved PDQ. Had it been any higher in the sky, would have been blocked out by the clouds moving in...
That was cool. Glad I logged in and checked out the chart you posted, Magic!

Re: Venus and Jupiter
Yeah we should have a pretty good Perseid meteor shower this weekend as long as the clouds don't mess that up.
The Moon will be a cresent so it won't be too bright this time.
I will be outside sitting in my chair in the middle of the yard where I have a great view of the sky.......along with Betsy on my lap just in case

Yeah Cravn, the Wild West has returned even back east
Good thing I mowed most of my place yesterday because it rained last night but it is partly sunny right now.
These clouds better hit the road so I can watch the meteor shower......might have to fill em full of lead if they don't get outta town
My damn flashlight decided to quit working so I have to shoot first and ask questions later
I'm watching my morning old west tv shows right now......Wagon Train and now Rawhide
This Rawhide has the doc from Star Trek as a bad guy who just might get shot by a young Clint Eastwood.

Re: Venus and Jupiter
I'm getting a clear night tonight and I hope I get one even better for the Perseid shower
The 2 planets in a nice line across the eastern sky.......along with the Sun.......which should pop up as soon as I fall asleep
Got back up on the death trap roof and put one 10ft piece of that roof cap and it was not easy to go from the ladder up to the peak and put these screws in since everything wants to slide off and hit the Earth.....including me
2 more pieces to put up and I sure can't wait to get this done and I NEVER want to do something like this again
I feel like I did fall off that roof too.....oh the pain.....

Re: Venus and Jupiter
I got the early bird meteor shower special last night.
Walked out the front door and looked up and saw 2 fly across the sky
And sat out for a few and planned where I will sit the next 2 nights for the best look and saw a few more.
The Moon is getting closer to a crescent so it won't brighten up the sky too much the next 2 nights.
Then as I go back in the house I look up one more time and I see another one fly across the sky

Re: Venus and Jupiter
I only saw 6 last night and just one of the good ones.
And the orange cresent Moon and the planets looked nice.
Hope tonight shows me more meteor showers.

Re: Venus and Jupiter
I was out around 11:30 pm for 15-20 min. Saw 1. Hardly worth the stiff neck I now have from sitting there with the chin pointed toward the sky.
Did, however, get a glimpse of the ISS scooting by... Not as good a view as my last sighting, but pretty cool nonethless.

Re: Venus and Jupiter
Another clear night here but like I said in the past.....they need to change the name of these meteor showers since the Perseid constellation has nothing to do with it AND the best ones I saw were no close to Perseid.
Some were over north where the Dipper is and the best ones I saw were almost the complete opposite southern sky.
Didn't see much here either.
I don't know who saw 100 per hour but I didn't see more than 15 total
So I ended up watching the Moon and the 2 planets rise in the east instead.
It was hard to wake up to watch the Colts destroy the Rams and Luck throwing a TD like Peyton did at the Kingdome 50 years ago as a rookie.
