Need Some Advice
OK. I do volunteer work for the local Hospice non-profit (on any given day we have 500 patients throughout the county and in the Hospice Center). Anyway, every Labor Day weekend (Saturday and Monday) we have an auction to support our endeavors. Last year we raised over $300,000. Donated items include a new Mustang convertible and Harley motorcycle (these are raffled, not auctioned), about 50 Amish hand-sewn quilts (some real Pennsylvania Dutch quality in these things, folks), trips, original artwork, some real nice Amish-made cabinetry, etc.
Here's my question: They have a special sports memorabilia auction on Monday morning and one of the items is an autographed Colts football (Manning, Addai, Clark, Fletcher, Gusman, Hagler, Keiaho, Kleco, Saturday, Hunter Smith, Josh Thomas, Utecht, and Vinatier)i. What would you guys feel is a respectable bid for this? This is a no-limit auction (not silent). Give me some hints! I'm working the auction but will try to bid on this if I can free myself up. Oh, and Magic, the auction also includes a Kobe Bryant signed and worn game shoe.
Cravn, come on up to the auction! I'm sure the little lady would love one of those quilts. The quilt auction is Saturday (Aug 30) at noon. It's a great way to spend one of the Labor Day weekend days and you can enjoy some honest Amish-cooked food! (no beer at the auction, though).
Link to the Auction web site is at the bottom of the main page

Re: Need Some Advice
$400 is probably a good place to start, since you KNOW the final bid will exceed that, anyway....
Besides, even if you overpay for the ball, the dough is going to a good cause....so you can't really lose.

Re: Need Some Advice
$400 sounds like a good start for something like this Blue.
Hopefully it goes up for the place too ......looks like a nice thing to be doing.
Just one Kobe shoe???
(some guys would pay lots of cash for that)
He might wear the same size as me too.
Wish I could make the trip there.......and yeah Mrs. magic would be getting at least one of those quilts!
How about a Magic shoe?
Hope it all goes great for the Hospice Blue.

Now why would a signed football of MANNING carry any bids in the Susquehanna Valley?? I think I could get it cheaply if you ask me. If Manning was raised in PA like Unitas, Namath and Montana were than I'd say yes.

Blame Cravn, not mighty_colts
If you have posts that are disappearing, he's the guy responsible (I gave him secret powers that are beyond the infinite).
Although Magic has secret powers, too......I wouldn't put it past either of those two guys to send posts to the nether regions of cyber space.
It's a mystery....a bonafide mystery, I tell you!!!
I have nothing to do with missing posts!! Blame somebody not named mighty_colts!!
I am innocent!!!
