2016 Weekly Picks, Results and Standings

Each week, I will post the picks, results and standings in this thread with the current week on top.  Players should continue to post their picks in the current week's "Lines" thread.  Any problems or questions, shoot me a message.  

Week 17 - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure.

The regular season of games is over.  Congratulations to the four division champions:  

Shipokekid in the Ark division (despite not having even played in the last two weeks) with 24 points,
R&R Hawks in the Lacey division with a BC high score of 37 points for the regular season,
PrimeTime in the Tesla division with 31 points and
kamikazekid in the Fresh Division with 25 points (CravnRavn was the unofficial winner but, due to his "non-chip player" status, cannot win points toward the playoffs.).  

Each division winner gets two bonus points to start the playoffs.  

The two wild card winners are robbybrandfas with 26 points and ColtsKurt with 25 points.  They each earn one bonus point to start the playoffs.  Let's have a round of applause for these auspicious winners!!

Starting with the playoffs, we all end up back in a single pot, starting with zero points except for the regular season champions and wild cards as described above.  Good luck in the playoffs!  Any points earned during the playoffs will be accumulated and carried forward and added to your Super Bowl tally to determine the Bookie Challenge Champion.

Week 16 - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure.  Yours truly, BlueShoes, finally hit a PERFECTA!!  Big whoop!.  Like it helps me at all this late in the game.  Feel sorry for Arkman who had the chance to sail into first place in the Ark Division when Shipokekid got shy and sat out the week.  What does Arkman do?  Hits a freakin' GOOSE EGG, of course.  No movement between players in any of the divisions.  For the final week, two divisions (Fresh and Lacey) are wrapped up as it's impossible for the leaders to be overtaken.  It's a long-shot in the Tesla Division for a winner other than PrimeTime as Magic needs to hit a True Perfecta to win there.  Only in the Ark Division, is there still a race for first of sorts since the top four players are separated by 6 points.   Lots of possibilities for the two wild card winners.  Oh, and can't forget:  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Eh-Say!

Week 15 - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure.  Wood20ks came down off the roof to pick his PARLAY and that's about it for special points in this week where a few key failures to cover (Vikings and Ravens) stole a few Perfectas from players. 2 more weeks to go.  Trailing division players can hope for Christmas stockings holding True Perfectas.  More than likely, they'll find the standard lump of coal.

Week 14 - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure.  ColtsKurt makes his mark with a TRUE PERFECTA and jumps into 2nd place in the Lacey division but has a long way to go to put pressure on R&R Hawks.  In the Tesla division, Lizzard manages his second PARLAY of the year and moves up a notch.  Won't talk about how the Pats-Ravens PUSHcost me or Craven a Parlay.  Yet another case where "the hook" would be so nice in this league.

Week 13 - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure.  Shipokekid, with his PERFECTA takes over first in the Ark division when both Arkman and kobesgame failed to get off their boats and post picks.  Three PARLAYs by R&R, PrimeTime and CravnRavn allowed them to solidify their first-place positions in the other divisions.    Finally, Wood20ks's PERFECTA pulled him off the bottom of the ladder in the Fresh division.  At this point, the only real competition for first place is in the Ark Division.  4 more weeks of regular play to go and, theoretically at least, a possible 28 points available to each player.  I can dream, can't I?

Week 12 - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure.  Lots of Parlays and Perfectas were blown away this week by the Eagles, Patriots, and Seahawks.  Sorry 'bout that.  Minor movement in divisions...Shipokekid moved into 2nd place in the Ark Division; that's it.  It IS time for several players to at least begin to make a move on the front-runners who, in all divisions except Ark, currently hold commanding leads.

Thanksgiving - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure.  Two Perfectas ( Robbybrandfas and CravnRavn) and one Parlay by ColtsKurt among an awful lot of turkeys although every player scored at least one point!

Week 11 - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure.  In the Ark division, kobesgame missed a True Perfecta with the New England push and had to settle for the PARLAY and one best bet.  She maintains second place bethind Arkman.  Magic's slight-of-hand caused him to pull a TRUE PERFECTA out of his hat and allowed him to leap into a solid second place position in the Tesla division.    Don't forget!  TURKEY DAY picks are special and must be made before kickoff on Thursday.  Look for the spreads tomorrow.

Week 10 - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure.  Lots of Red this week.  No parlays, no perfectas, two Goose Eggs by ColtsKurt and BlueShoes and another True Goose Egg by our friend Barry from Chicago, Wood20ks.  Total points by division?  3, 3, 3, and 2.  That's what I call suckiness.

Week 9 - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure.  Note division breakups.  Divisions were seeded based on current point totals by players to balance divisions and maintaining Magic in Tesla, Blue in Lacey, Arkman in Ark and CravnRavn in Fresh divisions.  Non-chip players are playing for bragging rights only and their point totals did not affect division seedings.  Note the total effective points for each division are balanced at 39.  Any gripes, don't bringem' up.  You're now playing to win your division and thus start the playoffs with a 2-point advantage over other non-division winning players.  Two overall wild cards will get 1 point going into the playoffs; everyone else will start the playoffs with zero points.  Lots of RED for our first week in divisions.  Little movement as a result except in the Ark Division where kobesgame hit a PARLAY and scored the only points in that division!

Week 8 - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure. Note: Division breakups to come later this week.

Week 7 - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure.  PrimeTime and CravnRavn hit what Cravn calls a SUPERFECTA and scramble up the top 5.  A GOOSE EGG by R&R and the kamikaze kid hurt their chances in the final setup of standings before division splits.  Finally, Eh-Say gets his first PARLAY of the year and climbs into the mix.  By week's end, you will be made aware of the 4-division setups going forward for the balance of the season.  Non-chip players (CravnRavn, PrimeTime, BigDrew, and Lizzard) will be assigned, one to each division, out of respect for paying members.  Only paying members can receive awards at year-end.  Sorry 'bout that, but "rules is rules".

Week 6 - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure.  Lots of red this week after Green Bay packed it in.  15 total points in the challenge -- pitiful when you consider that there are a theoretically possible 133 points each week.  Arkman seems to have resurrected his old-time winning ways (he was a Bookie Challenge season champ over 10 years ago) and moved into a tie for first after hitting both of his best bets.  Two other things worth mentioning:  "Eh-Say" finally made a move up the board and hit a PARLAY while CravnRavn's TRUE GOOSE EGG (the second one for the group this year) pretty much matched his Ravens' performance in their loss to the Giants.  Two more GOOSE EGGS were fried by ColtsKurt and Lizzard and the Pittsburgh blowout loss in Miami clobbered the rest of us.  Finally, it's worth noting that we had PUSHES for the first time this year...something that makes me want to insist that every spread include a "hook" (but that's just me talking).  One more week to the division split so, gentlemen (and lady):  Assume your positions!

Week 5 - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure.  Nine underdogs cover or win and shake up the BC standings.  PrimeTime hits the first TRUE PERFECTA of the season and leaps into third place behind Arkman who seems to have turned things around lately and hit one of the three PERFECTAs this week along with ShiPokeKid and Lizzard.  Finally, LARS0520 gets beyond zero points in a nice way with one best bet and a PARLAY.  Note, I found a discrepancy in BearDown76's point total and adjusted that over the last few weeks -- I had cheated him out of a point in week 3.  As usual, you might want to double-check your picks and points and let me know if I've messed up (entirely possible as I'm aging rapidly).  Two more weeks to the division splits!  Position yourselves!  

Week 4 - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure.  First the good news: R&R and ColtsKurt each hit PARLAYS.  The former moved into first place and the latter pulled himself up from the dregs.  Now the bad news:  Five players took major hits because they failed to meet the Sunday first-game-kickoff deadline for getting in their picks.  kobesgame was allowed her Monday night game pick.   The strong advice is to get your picks in by Saturday for ALL games.  Pay attention to weeks when there is a London game...those typically kickoff at 9;30 Eastern Time. 

Week 3 - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure.  Pittsburgh and Arizona losses hurt a lot of pickers this week (including yours truly).  kamikaze pointed his plane upward and shot into first place while Arkman finally bailed out his boat and each hit a PERFECTA.  Well done, gentlemen!  PackerBacker's PARLAY allowed him to move into a 3-way tie for third place.  Meanwhile, robbybrandfas, Shipokekid, and BlueShoes were victimized by Pittsburgh, Arizona, and a few others to come up with solid GOOSE EGGs.  Not good.  Not good at all.

Week 2 - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure.  Baltimore, Green Bay, and Seattle teamed to clobber the challenge pick results this week.  R&R wasn't affected as he hit a PERFECTA and moved into first place.  BigDrew, who had two of those teams, drew his first GOOSE EGG of the year (did you notice that little pun?) as did Lizzard.  But, the "pies de resistance" was PrimeTime's score of what I call a "SUPER GOOSE EGG -- pick five different losers!     Lotsa red and not a lot of points in week two.

Week 1 - Picks, Results and Standings for your printing pleasure.  Congratulations to BigDrew who got the year started with a PERFECTA and to robbybrandfas and Shipokekid who each has a PARLAY.  It's a long season and there's lots of time to recover.  Rookies:  As some guidance, you should be shooting for something over 30 points for the 17 week season to be in the running for any division first place finish.

I called that number and your secretary said you were at the bowling alley again

I told her I think that  means you are at the store buying munchies for the thursday night game since you east coast people tend to fall asleep by the start of the 4th quarter

Looks good and I appreciate your doing this once again. Except one thing... my edits. I replaced Indy with the Packers.
(I just don't know if our o-line can get the job done... or if we have any DBs to try and stop Stafford...)

I think it could be another very disappointing and long season for the Colts.

The Colts have already planned on winning by scoring 30+ points every game

Fixed (sorta), Mr. 1-point.  Being perfect gets boring after awhile.  I make errors sometimes just as a check to see if anyone actually reads the stuff.

Notice how my week 2 stats look like I am wearing an Aaron Rodgers belt

3 weeks of me picking teams that are supposed to win/cover the spread just enough to take my points away.......like GB up 14 with a minute left and give up a TD so they didn't cover 7.5 ......and the Panthers????....on my *no fly zone* for a couple months.

i sent my chips but I sent them to the wrong po box i sent it to 205 not 285 and I never got a message from magic tell yesterday so I just figured they were in...so whoever has po box 205 got some chips in the mail from me...

Magic has had a "Chip Report" pinned and posted since before the season started.  When he's received chips, he's updated that post.  Whenever I've mailed chips in the past over the years, about a week after I mail them I start checking his chip report post until I see my name show up.  Checking that post, it was last updated on September 12 (about 6 weeks ago). Seems you could have been aware of your postal problem quite awhile ago. Now you're asking/expecting Magic to track down a problem via the post office?  Seriously?  And you expect to get a pass on this?  I don't know.  The official rules, which have also been posted and pinned every season say all chips must be received by week 3, no exceptions.

This "issue" will now hold up the division splits that I've been trying to get done since we always do them after week 7.  Non-chip players affect the division setups.   So, right now, no divisions.      

Gawd this sounds more like it should have been the 13th annual of friday the 13th or.......thank god Miguel isn't here.

Yeah everything Blueshoes said is a well know fact here and I even saved the past seasons here just so there never is any question.

Why Oh Why is it so hard for me to get 20 members to send in the chips on time????

It has been several seasons now and I hope our new members will help out with this in the future since they all sent them in before the season started and I LOVED that part.

.......and now I am off to post the weeks point spreads AND that we have LONDON game again at 9:25 am ET 6:25am PT
