Yeah I might too......don't know much about them but it is a 50 gallon version and looks like it is fatter than the other one here.
This one has lifetime warranty on the tank because it isn't made of metal but the heat-coils inside are the usual 10 year version.
They say this way they won't rust but then I have a well not city water.
I WILL probably take one last shower with the old one just to use that hot water in the tank with the power off.

cravnravn wrote:That's a 50 gallon tank?
Yep.....it is sort of short and fat.
You can see by that picture it is a about 4 feet tall since I still have that old "pin-set" section from the bowling alley behind it
One of these days I have to make a base to make that into a table and that pin-set weighs about 3 times as much as that water tank.
The tank is 95lbs so easy to move and I carried it up the stairs into the house by myself (the truck driver wouldn't go beyond the stairs)
It is about 26 inches wide.
I need another physicist to help me........no that wouldn't do much
How did you guys like the gravity wave news we made from LIGO in eastern Washington??
I know how you all think about gravity waves and black holes all day

Ha! Dude can scan the universe for gravity waves and make atoms collide... but didn't take the necessary measurements to make sure things fit. Too late now, but the first step is to get out the tape measure...

My new Law of Water Heater Relativity
The width of the heater is relative to the width of the doorway.
So I cut out the lower door frame and the 2X6 on the hinge side with a hack saw blade so the cut will not be very wide (unlike the skilsaw would have made)
This way it will be easy to *glue and screw* it back in place and the door and trim reinstalled to look better than new (hell I installed it the original time)
Of course I still have to remove the old one and install this one but since I have soldered more copper than pretty much every human in the entire history of humans that should be fairly easy
(not doing that today since I need a old geezer break right now )

Well yeah it runs on electricity!
Can't run it with the wood pellets
It is one of the new money savers and lifetime warranty and not any metal other than the heat rod things and of course I have well water so I need this since I have to also use the water softener thing in the basement and iron cleaner so it is supposed to work better with the well........guess I'll find out.
Have to pick up a couple brass fittings tomorrow before I remove the old one and attach the hot and cold and the vent and power to all the ones already there.
Can't run on fuel here or have it in the unheated basement (lucky it won't fit in the basement door so that finally made her sthu about that part)
What do the Amish use?
(my power bill right now is under $100 per month)

The Amish generally heat their water the old-fashioned way...over a burning wood fire. One unfortunate lady burned herself to death tending her fire to heat water for laundry.

They take a variety of approaches to things but ALL follow the rule that they cannot use electricity for anything in their homes. They sometimes get around that by running a line to a neighboring "English" person to get power for things that would otherwise be difficult to manage without...most often some sort of freezer for storage. They also use genators as temporary providers for electricity...an Amish guy did our kitchen cabinets for us when we built our home in 1997. They do fantastic cabinetry and use regular power tools which they plug into gas-powered generators,

Re: WOO HOO ........EVERYTHING SUCKS
Yeah I seen several of the water heated by the fire here over the years and never heard of one burning the house down.
Different versions but the one I remember the most is they had the metal chimney wrapped with copper tube to heat the water and back into a tank but I don't know what they did in the summer........maybe just switched to electricity.
We probably use more electricity for the tv's and satellite and pc's than anything else.
I always have been thinking about trying to make electricity off the creek but it probably wouldn't make enough power to cover the cost.
If solar panels fell out of the sky (with a parachute attached) I know if I covered the roof on the south side I would get all the power I need.
Punxsutawney Phil must have told her not to use kerosene to do the laundry!!
(just went to the local hardware store and got the 2 brass adapters I need to maybe do the replacement and my power bill showed up at the post office and this month it is $92 which is about $7 less than last month and it includes the $14 for my street light)

We fired the Amish crew that built our log home, they were making costly mistakes. We stuck with the Mennites.

Re: WOO HOO ........EVERYTHING SUCKS
Well the fucking repair man showed up today that Sears sent according to the warranty I paid for and all he did was tell me it was the circuit board (no shit sherlock) so he ordered one with his laptop and said he can return on the 14th to install it and it will be shipped here via UPS (maybe they will be the only one to do their job) and the repair guy said I could install it myself when it gets here so I don't have to wait for him to return.
It is an easy 10 minute job so 15 minutes after UPS shows up I hope to have a working refrigerator.
Should work another 6 years and croak once again.......hope it is December next time.
Hell EVERYTHING I had in the old 14 X 70 mobile I lived in from 1983 until 2003 NEVER FAILED on me like this BS.
Got a ice chest thing on sale at Walmart today ($30) and then picked up 8 bags of ice (7lb bags)
7 fit with all the freezer stuff we have left and one bag in a smaller styrofoam box for the fridge type stuff.
Of course it won't last until I get the circuit board so I will have to figure out how to drain it and add new ice.

Always, always always keep a credit card for household emergencies. I use home depot, they always have interest free depending on what you buy. In our monthly budget we always budget 100 to home depot, if we have no purchase that month, that 100 goes in the sock drawer.
Depot also has free delivery within 25 miles.
How much was that motherboard for the frig? Ours went on the stove 2 years ago and the service dude told me 350 for a new one. Shit on that I got a new stove for 550.

Re: WOO HOO ........EVERYTHING SUCKS
The circuit board is $115 and Sears should have sent that repair dope here WITH that part not just to come here and do nothing.
The reason I got this fridge from Sears 6 years ago was because ALL of the other places said I would have to wait 2 weeks for the delivery and Sears delivered this one 2 days after I ordered it.
I don't have to pay for the new board BUT the warranty cost over $200
A fridge these days has so many parts that can go bad besides to circuit board which I found out when I looked up all the parts they sell at Sears for this one.
I could already have the board IF I would have taken the wild guess that it was all I needed and ordered it myself and not paid for this fake warranty
I bet the fridge I had for 25 years is still running somewhere since I gave it away for free with that 14X70 mobile.
No matter how much you spend everything you buy is a rip-off scam......the stove should stop working this year too.

I was just going to say it was that February leap year thing but now its March and nothing is fixed
Get to buy ice every other day until that circuit board shows up here and I have no idea when that will be.
Still haven't removed the old hot water tank and installed the new one since I know it will take an entire day and I haven't had a good day to even give that a try........but I think I have all the parts I need to do it.
Next will be paying the property taxes .........all this shit puts a dent in Ben Franklin
(still haven't got a chance to figure out why the Cutlass won't start for the first time since 1979)
The only sort of good thing is I got 20 gallons of gas to store here for $35 for future mowing and I will have to do that next sunny day.

Re: WOO HOO ........EVERYTHING SUCKS
We don't drink the water here either so we just buy the gallons of distilled water and regular drinking water for 88 cents
This ice box thing is not working.......still full of ice but the stuff to drink is NOT cold.
I could probably have better luck using the creek to cool stuff.
Ice is not all that cheap here either.
Next will be just go to a restaurant until the part shows up.

I'm more than mildly surprised you don't have a freezer, Magic. Living out there in the middle of BFE and all… $2-300 and you've got a nice little freezer chest. $100 for a back-up college dorm size fridge… C'mon man

Yeah the wife and I have talked about getting a small freezer for the last few years now but she always changed her mind.
She doesn't trust my truck to make it to the city and back from Home Depot or Walmart to bring one home now.
Her friend west of here has one for us but we would have to drive the truck and her following in her car and also her friend to be at home to do it.
.....and it rains every other day and my truck would melt if I drive it on a rainy day
I sure hope a UPS truck stops by here tomorrow
