Re: It Is Too Fucking COLD
I sort of rigged it up after midnight when it was in the 30's INSIDE the house.
I got the fire to start and unplugged the fan that froze up and then opened a side door and took the big fan that I use for the computers upstairs and have it blowing across the stove to keep it from getting too hot and blowing the heat out across the kitchen and down the hall.
It took over 12 hours to warm the hose back up and early this morning I found a replacement fan at Amazon and it is already on its way so I will get to replace that in a few days and see how long it will last before something else breaks (knock on wood pellets )
I looked at new stoves online and they cost too much and reviews by customers pretty much says every damn one can't be trusted.
The wife says "why not electric heat?"
Good lord I don't want to pay PUD $300 a month to heat the house for 8 months

Re: It Is Too Fucking COLD
How 'bout propane gas heat? I'm guessing that would be pretty reasonable (certainly as compared to any kind of electric heat).
Wait, maybe Obama will give you a tax break on solar panels!!! Ah, crap, forgot. There's not enough sun in the northwest to charge a solar panel sufficiently to power your porch lights let alone heat the place.

be nice if Barry Hussein would put the panels on the entire roof on the south side......the type Al Gore has for free
Propane does sound good but it is real expensive here too. (over $3.00 per gallon)
Wood pellets has been the cheapest and the price is the same the last 10 years.

I'd be real reluctant to go propane, during the days when big oil stuck it to us, the propane companies follewd right along. The homes in our development were split between oil and propane I was paying 4.69 for a gallon of oil they were paying 4.25 a pound of propane. It still costs 20.00 to fill a 4lb grill bottle, that price hasn't changed in 10 years.

The 2 power companies are having great promotions on solar down here, we talking 50% tax right off, plus 1200 refund check. The initial sticker shock is what I can't get over. A normal hot water heater is 5 to 600 bucks, the solar hot water heater is 1900.

Re: It Is Too Fucking COLD
That propane price I mentioned for around here was what I saw online but today on my bill paying trip to town I saw at the lumber yard I go to it was down to $1.79
Of course that sounds good if I had a propane heater and I rather not spend 1 or 2 thou$and on a new one for propane or this damn wood pellet stove.
I looked at lots of them online and then read the reviews......and as usual one or two say it is the greatest and 10 will say it sucks and they will never buy one again.
So I am going to hope this fan I ordered will get here so I can just see if I can repair mine.
But it is coming via USPS so this could take a bleepin' while.
AND I paid all my monthly bills as usual and my last stop after the light bill was the post office where they charge me $30 for 6 months starting next payment.
Good thing I could still pay the $28 this time.......since all I had left on the way home was $28.00
Funny thing is the best place I go to is Chase bank since I never have to pay any interest and they give me money back too
My birthday is the 29th so I will be using my good old Chase credit card for my 3 day birthday at my favorite restaurant (which she bitches about but too bad I pay the bills )

Hey we're with Chase too. As Drew aluded to in another post, oil and propane prices are way down, hence the stale market on gold and silver.c c

Re: It Is Too Fucking COLD
WOOO HOOOO....USPS had my new fan for the old pellet stove today so I picked it up and installed it and the damn thing is quieter than it was when it was new about 15 years ago!
USPS was not as fast as UPS but Amazon sent it via 2 day mail and as usual the dope that packaged it put it in the box with one corner of the outlet was bent so I took a hammer to it and fixed that and bolted it in and even though it was a warm day she had me fire it up since she figured it still wouldn't work.
So now we are ready for snow and freezing cold
$115 but I guess that is cheaper than paying somebody to do it or buying the complete new stove like I almost did.

Re: It Is Too Fucking COLD
Wow, thanks for mentioning Amazon, didn't even consider them when looking for the part to fix my equinox, I was about to pay 137 for a window motor and regulator through Napa and that's with my Penske discount, amazon has the same make for 85 and free shipping.

Re: It Is Too Fucking COLD
Yeah I found my fan on there last year when it first started having problems and I was just doing a Google search and it brought me to Amazon and they have just about anything there and the free shipping always helps and Amazon in a company from here in the NW
The company that had the fan was in Los Angeles so I figured it would get here fast and it did and so far it works like new.
This was my first Amazon purchase

Good lord... Amazon has been a lifesaver at our household, with Anita's two surgeries each of the last 2 Christmases... we've spent thousands, I'm sure. We're Amazon Prime, too. Mid November thru Christmas, packages start showing up on the doorstep nearly daily.
We have several of their "fulfillment centers" aka warehouses here in the Indy area. You hear them speak of drone delivery? That would be to my house, given our being in the vicinity of the warehouses. We live NE, they're out on the NW side of town.

Yeah I saw the Amazon Prime thing when I made the order and they mention the discounts but unless I was getting stuff all the time I skipped over that and my Chase bank account mentions discounts (cash back) if you buy from Amazon.
I have seen videos of that Amazon drone here since it is in Seattle and started in Bellevue WA and of course the comedy where some guy shoot down the drone when it flies into his yard
I will probably check there in the future if I need something but I tend to try avoiding buying stuff these days (the wife does need all the shopping channels blocked )
Hope things are going ok with Mrs Walther

Re: It Is Too Fucking COLD
Yea I do most of my shopping thru Amazon, just never struck me to search them for auto parts. I put my sister into the 21st century this Christmas, amazon ran a pre black Friday deal, I got her a kindle fire for 39 bucks!!! Since she had wi-fi we use Tango and she's still learning Facebook..she reminds of magic back in the day with all the profiles she has mistakenly made up

Re: It Is Too Fucking COLD
Well that fan I got via Amazon is probably not going to last long and runs HOT and will probably freeze up like the old one.
BUT for the first time in my adult life I am actually getting a replacement sent to me no questions asked.
This is from a company in Los Angeles that sells these parts on Amazon.......they didn't even tell me to send the bad one back and sent me the new one asap and said I could either have my money back or a replacement.
Well I figured if this is going to be the first company I have ever did business with that will do this I had to take the replacement fan.
All they said was just recycle the first one they sent if I could.
I am so used to bastards making me return things before they will even think about sending a replacement.
http://www.amazon.com/s?me=A1IS8P43Z2PGQ2 the company is called *InnovativeSupply*
IF I ever need something and this company sells it they will be getting an order from me
