Re: Florida!
I was actually in my pool yesterday, temps will be approaching 90 today and tomorrow, now if I can get the Mrs up and about I'd like to go see the sunrise this morning.
Pretty amazing that 1 week of hot temps rose our pool water 15 degrees, its a balmy 75 degrees now.avter a sweaty day at work it felt refreshing to do the first cannon ball of the season.
And as far as the snow back home goes, don't miss it at all.

Re: Florida!
Weird day yesterday, made it to the beach, set our stuff up, and this fog rolled in and just sat right over us, dropped the air temp 25 degrees, stayed there an hour and had enough, thought I was getting frostbite. 1 block off the beach it was back to 90 degrees.
I shot u a pic majic

Re: Florida!
Drove thru pretty good fog going around Jacksonville on Friday. Oh, and ended up losing almost an hour when I-75 was closed down to one lane due to a truck accident. There was at least a 15 mile backup. Some woman was texting, swerved into the truck's path, he swerved, jack-knifed then rolled the whole rig over taking out a lot of guardrail and ended up in a small ravine on the side of the road.

I might be able to edit that pic.........it was from his cell phone and it was too big to fit here so I resized it but I can probably just trim that full sized version
zip files on a cell phone
SNOW again in the Windy City area?......might have to change that name..........of course certain libs there have been claiming global warming for years.
No rain here today but it is cloudy and lower 50's so my cars will stay inside for a while..........maybe by April 1st I can get one of them out but I better just fire up the Cutlass to warm up the oil and burn the condensation out of the exhaust system.
You can keep all that cold and snow back your direction
Maybe any of the H-birds back east came to my house since I already have 100 and it is early in the season.

Re: Florida!
The week in Florida is over. One 1100 mile drive coming up over the next two days. Great weather all week until heavy rain this afternoon. visited a few friends, good food, lots of beach time (surf temp is 76), and good times with my siblings. Now, I just wish it was Sunday at this time.

Re: Florida!
You're probably somewhat anxious to get home, but I've always wanted to just meander my way to or from FL one time. I suppose my time is coming.
I'd like to head NW across WI, MN, the Dakotas, MT… Dive up to Vancouver, them south along the coast… CA, the Grand Canyon. Just take my time and check out whatever looked interesting. Probably run out of $$ before I made it.

Re: Florida!
I want to look at all the many things you can see in the 48 States but actually never have driven a car very far.
But back in 1984 (gas must have been cheaper) I drove my 4X4 Power Wagon to So Cal and back in July and that was the year the Olympics was in LA
So I drove from the Olympic Peninsula to the Olympics and back (didn't get a Gold Medal)
Went down Hiway 101 and part of the way down Hiway 1 so you can be close to the Pacific most of the way.
On my list is southern Utah northern AZ where the area around Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon are and all the rest.

Re: Florida!
I can't stand driving long distances, maybe because my UPS route was in between 160-180 miles per day. I did that 15 out of my 18 years with them.
I'm not looking forward to driving to Drew's wedding next month 8 hr drive for us, and tomake matters worse the little international airport here Sanford, starts flying directly into myrtle beach starting May 22, that would have been ideal for us it would have put us 30 minutes from ocean isle beach where the wedding is.

Re: Florida!
I`m always in the middle of driving or flying.......Flying if you don`t have much time, and driving when you have all the time in the world......
I took a two week vacation back in August of 1987 with the exwife and drove out to California..........it wan an amazing trip that will have forever lasting memories.
in a two week trip I seen:
The Rockie Mtns.........Amazing
Pikes Peak..........i
Utah`s Plateaus..........Amazing
Reno Nevada..........awesome
SF.............Fisherman`s Wharf, the hobos hanging out at the State captol
candlestick park
Drove down I-1 I think it is,that follows the ocean.Slept alongside the interstate one night. The sound was cool as hell.
Hollywood.........
L.A..........
Disneyland......
Las vegas........
Hoover dam......
Grand canyon...........Amazing.
and other things I seen and did along the way.
You can`t get that from flying.
Also have driven to South Carolina twice with my Dad.
Great time.
And not to mention a couple years ago taking my son and friend out to NY.
My son and I had a great great time on the way back from from NY.
Amazing times.............and I can`t wait for my retirement trip either. .

Re: Florida!
Yeah I agree Barry
I pretty much went to all those same places but the Tetons and Rockies I saw from the sky since that is where they fly when you go east from Seattle
Went to all the places down the west coast in my still fairly new Power Wagon so guys always had to check it out when I stopped places.
Drove right downtown SF and down in Hollywood......damn gay parades but I wanted to stay at the Hollywood Hotel but the biotch I was with didn't (as the kids say she was my babies momma ) got rid of her the next year after that trip.
Went to LA and Santa Barbara - Anaheim area took the kid to Disneyland.
Like to cruise down the coast in a car with the current women (she bitches even more but after 27 years I am stuck with her )
I actually would like to drive all over the USA and over to N Carolina just to see where my Dads side of the family came from before a group of them moved over here in the 1920's all together.
On the east side things are not as far apart when you drive but I have to drive 3000 miles just to get started (rather not rent a car either)
Just a fist full of cash and 3 months worth of my prescriptions

Re: Florida!
I-95 is most definitely NOT seeing America. Nothing but trees, South of the Border signs and crazy redneck drivers from Richmond thru the Caolinas and Georgia. Then I pick uo 10, 301 and 75. Nothing like finding yourself parked (literally) on I-95 after one of its many accidents.

Re: Florida!
I'm not an expert on the east coast but it sounds like you guys just drive down the interstate hiway so I guess you would get to see car wrecks
I see so far lots of coastal and historical places on the coast of N.C. (even lighthouses for Cravn like at the Crystal Coast)
I wouldn't be just trying to get from one State to another as fast as possible..........mainly see places and then find a decent hotel.
But I would alos be driving across N.C. towards the NW area where from what I see hundreds of distant family members still live after over 200 years.
And some places in Virginia where my Dads side first came here from England in the 1600's (Shady Grove Virginia)
Lots of historical places to got too.
Like the places from the Civil War days which was not that long ago when we rode a horse to the store and didn't have more than an iHorse or a iShovel or an iGun
I know kids my sons age are idiots and think it has always been like it is today........and I mean 99% under 40
Better bring enough cash to buy a new car if I wear out the Chrysler
I did that way back when I drove the Power Wagon to So Cal and back.......$6,000 seemed like a lot when I was 26
And my Desert Eagle under the drivers seat

Re: Florida!
yeah Magic, the drive from SF to Hollywood and LA along I-1 was awesome. The ight we spent sleeping alongside the interstate was fun.The sounds the waves make hitting the rocks was soothing as all hell.
Went thru whatever forest it was in the northern part of Cali was cool too.Seen all the redwood trees and drove thru one in our s-10.(maybe it was Sequoia trees.I don`t remember........
but as Blue pointed out, some of the driving just actually sucked........From where I live here in Il,thru iowa and Nebraska, was nothing but miles upom miles of cornfields.........Nevada was nothing but desert, but the rest was awesome as all hell.
When my Dad and I drove to Charleston S.C.,we went down the ol`cobble road, seen Fort Sumter, went fishing on some lake down there full of alligators.
went thru the Smoky ntns as well.not like the Rockies, but very nice and scenic.
Augustus Georgia, tried getting in where they hold the Masters, buut to no avail.......(oh well).
So I`m on the fence of either myself..........And like I said,my retirement trip is gonna be a blast......
The wife,me,the sun and the Vette..................Just what dreams are made of.

Vette sounds like fun.......I have only driven one once.
Would like to drive my 1970 Cutlass but my luck it would have some sort of problem 5000 miles from home.........but then cars from back then aren't full of computers and all that modern BS under the hood so the main thing is I better put a bigger radiator in her before I try that........would be fun to do that though ......and I retired a loooooooong time ago
Yeah hiway 1 and 101 down the west coast is great and it goes all the way up here to where I live

I-95 is the worst road in America, the part that goes through DC is absolutely the pits.
Mr Norm, change your route the next time you drive down, my dad used to come back using the Pennsy Turnpike, I think it was route 15 he used to pick up in the carolinas to the Pike.
