Re: PLEASE DON'T PICK LUCK
If Jimmy was smart, he'd go after that kid Flynn in Green Bay, he just blew every single game record out of the water for the Packers..Better than Starr, Favre and Rogers.

So your saying hes better than Rodgers?
He`s another Kevin Kolb......Opened everyones eyes cause of one game. And if GB trades him off,he wiull be just an average qb......nothing more, nothing less.

Re: PLEASE DON'T PICK LUCK
We don't have any choice but to take Luck.
Let's hope that Irsay brings in a strong GM and doesn't make good on his promise that HE HIMSELF will be making the draft/football decisions
We don't want Jim to become his Old Man

Re: PLEASE DON'T PICK LUCK
I think we have to risk it.
I like his overall attitude.....he doesn't like to hear praise about himself. I think Manning has had an impact on Luck.
Leaf, on the other hand, had the same attitude as Jeff George, they were a couple of losers who should get married.
Overall, I like our chances with the new guy.
And don't forget.....if Manning saw any big potential problems with Luck, he would definately say something to Irsay/Polian.

Re: PLEASE DON'T PICK LUCK
Trade that overhyped MFer for everything you get for him.
If Julio Jones was worth 6 damn draft picks what could the Colts get for Luck? You could build a whole new defense out of 1 player AND get a QB of the future in the same draft. There are alot of VERY good QB's coming out this season.
Manning's injury, while pretty serious, isn't the career ender people are making it out to be (the media) Brian Urlacher had the same injury he's fine....... Brad Johnson had the exact same injury and played another 10 years in the NFL. Manning will be able to manage 3 or 4 more...
I am SOOO convinced the RIGHT thing to do is to trade the Luck pick and build a TEAM... ala the 90's Cowboys with Hershel Walker. They could trade down and draft Richardson and give Manning a RB to share the load with (and a game breaking player to build for the future) With teams going to pass happy offenses as the next trend, (notice how they are all similar to the Old Colts teams? LOL) It would be the perfect time to switch it up and go back to old school, smash mouth, knowck your dick in the dirt football.....
I'm also hearing Jim Popp is going to be the next Colts GM... (rumors around town.... lol) Interesting move if it's true.
Hope you all had a Happy Holiday season!

Re: PLEASE DON'T PICK LUCK
Bottom line the value of Luck and his chances of success for 15 years is greater than the value of Manning and his chances of being healthy and effective for max 4 years. If Petyton can still play, keep both for as long as you can, but you cannot pass up a truly potential great QB, which are damn scarce and you pretty much have to have in this league, when you current great QB is 36, and coming off a missed season and surgery due to lack of arm strength.
And have you seen this kid play. He is the real deal, a complete player. None of the QBs in this class are close really.

True enough Ark..... but I think when you have the chance to pull the trigger on a trade like that you go ahead and do it.... most of the "great" QB's having success today were not the "can't miss" Qb's in their respective drafts. Brees was a 2nd rounder that was too short to start in the NFL, Brady was a 6th round afterthought...Rodgers almost slipped to the 2nd round as well..... Shaub (when healthy he's a damn good QB) wasn't the man in his draft either..
If the scouts got it right all the time there wouldn't be stories about guys like Kurt Warner, Brady, Joe Montana and Unitas. Luck has the chance to be great, but the truth is nobody knows how a QB will adjust to the NFL game from dominating in college....and seeing the Oregan game where Luck struggled with the speed of their defense it makes me a seed of doubt about his ability to handle the speed of NFL DB's and Lbers.

Well let me ask you this, whatever trade you are envisioning, would you have traded Peyton for it back in 98?
Now I'm not saying that Luck will be Peyton-level/GOAT/etc, but he *is* grading out as the same level of QB prospect. So it's an analogous situation if you take yourself back to 98 when Peyton had yet to play a down in the NFL, and was just a mega-elite prospect, as Luck is today.
Would you have pulled the trigger on that?

I know you guys were wondering, "What Would Kurt Do?"
Draft Luck. Bring back Peyton. Worry about shit if/as/when it happens.
Carry on.

Re: PLEASE DON'T PICK LUCK
Too bad you guys are throwing money like its Monopoly..
Bottom Line, there is a salary Cap in place, and theres no way in hell you can afford Pay-A-Ton, Luck Freeney & Mathias..Theres probably 35% of the cap hit with those 4 players..
After watching Luck in the bowl game, hes all hype..He couldnt handle the speed of Oregon, WTF you think hes going to do in the NFL.
Id go after the kid in Green Bay, at least you know he can handle the speed of the NFL..

Re: PLEASE DON'T PICK LUCK
Thats why I say trade that Luck pick Cravn.... And to be honest from what I am hearing Luck is saying all the right things to the media.... (coached up for sure) But that he really doesn't want to sit behind Manning... He wants to play. Manning isn't going anywhere, he will be a Colt next season.... Thats why the luck pick is pure gold.... TRADE DOWN.... I would rather see Trent Richardson here than Luck, Richardson went off on the top teams in the SEC.... He's the most NFL ready player in the draft on offense.
Take Richardson, that gives Manning somebody that can take ALOT of the offensive load off of him heck you might even be able to grab Malcolm Floyd later depecding on how the draft goes.
If folks want to build the Colts for future success, it's time to go the opposite way and build a great defense and running game, because Thats what we are going to be facing in our own division with the Texans....

Re: PLEASE DON'T PICK LUCK
I dunno, Dshock......if we trade down, what we receive for that trade-down will not compensate for what we could gain if Luck pans out.
What could we get for Luck in a trade-down? Perhaps a couple of picks.....perhaps a couple of picks that may or may not pan out themselves.
hmmmmm..............
In order to make a good decision, we need to think about the risk-to-reward ratio.
We stand to gain far more by rolling those dice and keeping Luck than by trading him away for a few picks. I just don't see the value of a few extra picks compensating the value of a QB with huge potential.
We should take Luck, keep Manning if healthy enough to play, then build a strong O-line and D-line. Make sure we are strong in the trenches. This will assist Luck with a strong ground game and a defense that will not allow the other team to keep Luck off the field like they did with Manning.
Don't forget that good QBs are a traditional Colts staple. The Blue Horseshoe is famous for its signal callers....so we can't pass up on Luck in our current situation.
"And with the 1st overall pick, the Indianapolis Colts select: Melvin Bullwinkle, punter, Northern Jerkwater University".

Re: PLEASE DON'T PICK LUCK
Interesting thing I learned yesterday (yes, even at my age I'll admit to being able to learn things)...Colts will have the first pick in the ODD rounds of the draft and the Rams will have the first pick in the EVEN rounds of the draft. I had thought that the tie-break win by the Colts would apply to all draft rounds but that's not the case. So, in effect, because the Colts failed to lose one of those two games they dropped down one pick in three of the rounds.

Re: PLEASE DON'T PICK LUCK
That sucks
The earlier reports said we would have the 1st pick in EVERY round.

Id trade the mother fucker to Oakland, they gave Cinncy 4 first rd picks, Im sure they would barter.. For the #1 overall, you could atleast get 2 #2's and a 4 for Luck.
Luck is Leaf 14 years later.
Im telling ya, that Oregon game revealed volumes on how Luck is not ready for the next level.

Cravn, that's TOTAL bullshit!!!!
Manning lost every big game in his college career!!
To hell with ONE college ball game.......we gotta roll 'dem bones with Luck.
And on a last note......let me drain a few more Millers, and I'll tell you ANOTHER few reasons why YOU are full of SHIT!!!!!!
P.S.
Miller and Dominoes with pep and double 'shrooms is damn tastey
Re: PLEASE DON'T PICK LUCK
Ryan Leaf? Leaf didn't have it between the ears. Folks were too wowed by his ridiculous physical tools (also see: Jeff George) . Luck has all the physical tools plus the intelligence, poise, leadership, etc. If we are going to compare him to past prospects, he's MUCH more similar to Peyton, who also had troubles winning in college against teams more talented than his (which QB didn't?)

Re: PLEASE DON'T PICK LUCK
Ya gotta realize that Cravn's coming from the perspective where Flake-O will end up in the HOF. So, his take on QB's is suspect.
