On the road again...
Tomorrow we hit the road (actually air...) for the trip and cruise of the Baltic Sea. Leave Indy at 2:30 pm and arrive in Copenhagen at 7:45 am Fri. (time change... 8 hr flight from Wash DC)
Sat. we catch the ship and off to Kiel, Germany; Stockholm, Sweden; Tallinn, Estonia; and St. Petersberg, Russia.
Gonna be one to remember, fo sho! Check in with you all sometime around May 22.
They're calling it The Cruise of Kings and Czars.
(I did mention that it was almost free, didn't I?)

Have a ball, Kurt. Two things: (1) You will be totally whipped on Friday. Flying to Europe can really hit you that first day. (2) Take some sweatshirts/sweaters!
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

Re: On the road again...
Seems very - VERY - appropriate to sing...
Back home again... in Indiana! (you Indy 500 fans know the tune...)
Landed sat eve at about 7 pm. By the time we go to bed, it had been 24hs... that flight "across the pond is a sumbitch! 8 hrs from Copenhagen to Wash DC. My ass still hurts!
Outstanding trip... never go back, but it was soooo cool to see things that were built and are still used daily that predate the discovery of what is now our home. Short one-liners on each stop...
Copenhagen - Bicycles. Good lord they love to ride their bikes.
Kiel - nothing spectacular
Stockholm - tall, slender, long haired blonds. Nuff said. Beautiful entry into the city/port from the sea.
Tallinn - best stop. Friendliest people... coolest "old town" to walk and explore. Easy choice.
St. Petersberg - awesome churches, palaces. Opulence - back in the day - second to none.
Those ruskies knew how to build some of the most beautiful structures. Very depressing to see that today they all live in tiny cramped - (woodsey: Cabrini Green-looking) - apartments.
I simply cannot explain how good the freshly brewed iced tea tasted once back on the ground in DC... I'll stay away from the vodka for awhile, I think!

Re: On the road again...
I watched your trip on the map we have here and I can't imagine being on a ship in the Baltic
So when you went to St. Petersberg do you go in under those 2 bridges that cross the Baltic with that island in the middle?
Looks like you probably would have to I guess.
And that part going in past Denmark looks so narrow that you have to switch to a row boat
Thousands of islands in the Baltic too.
I figured St. Petersberg would be a place to see since they did build those wild looking buildings 100 years ago and more.
I guess you have that part off the "bucket list"
Welcome home Mr and Mrs
.....oh btw....you flew right past Great Britain (the entire UK)......man you could spend a month or more checking out all the parts of that place

Went over the bridges on a tour bus, Magic... the MSC Orchestra wouldn't have fit under the ones I saw!
Those buildings I saw... they were 200... 300... 400... and yes, some were 500+ years old! How they built those things that long ago... I'll never be smart enough to know that! (I guess same could be said about the pyramids, though!)

Re: On the road again...
Yeah over there in Rusia and the UK and many other places in Europe are buildings even 800 years old still there and look like they will last another 1000
There would be more but WWI and WWII messed that up a bit.
I was looking at some pics in those places today like the Castles still on the Thames
