Website going down this year

Yes, let's pass the tissue around and let's have a group hug to get through this traumatizing time

I'm cutting my expenses accross the board to the bare minimum, and that includes the annual hosting and email costs of our website, at least for this year.

But this message board is free, so nothing will change here


I"ve become a cheap_skate until I"m more confident in my money outlook. This isn't 4 years ago when I had big cash flow with no problems on the horizon.

Nobody ever went to that damn website, anyway


Except maybe to check out the chicks on Page 5


But I can renew the hosting at any time. And besides......I need to rebuild that website anyway. But there's NO way I'm doing that anytime soon, not this year.


So as of the 21st of this month......the website will be down. But I renewed the BC domain name

Seriously Mighty ... first, thanks for footin the bill while it was up. Second, I think Blue Shoes spreadsheets work just fine. As I suggested at the end of last season, all you need to do is add a spread sheet that lists all the past award winners from past years, updated once a year ...

Agreed that Blue's spreadsheets were outstanding. No question, an incredible job.
If I could do better than hunt-and-peck, I'd offer to help.

I think there's enough geeks here to step up a bit each year and not make things all fall on one's shoulders. Blue's not complained about it, but there will come a time when it's too much... It would be cool to get a rotation going.

What's going away is the web site that hosts/stores the archives, Mighty's wonderful "Page 5" photos, the archives, etc. The forum will continue as-is so picks and results will continue to be handled as they've been in the past and I'll continue to post the results/standings and store them on the Comcast server (no charge to me as a Comcast internet subscriber).

I believe there's an approximate $70 per year charge to maintain the "BookieChallenge.com" domain name and Mighty's indicates he's renewed that even though it will, in effect, "point" to a non-existent web site.
