Re: President Ford longest living President in US history
Ford, the only unelected President, is that right? I think so.
He sure knew how to make trucks
Magic......you have my mailing address. I want my own Gold Certificate.
Actually, I'd rather have my hands on the real metal, not the Certificate.
Imagine holding 100 grand in Fine Gold in your hands........

I thought those gold/silver certificates were "outlawed" years ago, so people couldn't go to Fort Knox and make claim to some gold...
but then at my advanced age, I seem to be "remembering" alot of wrong stuff... maybe its the bourbon... nah!

I think that only banks could have the large denomination gold certificates for dealing with the federal reserve...(not that i've ever seen one )
BUT i do know that they took the $500 $1000 $5000 bills out of circulation a while back because it's easier to wire-transfer large sums these days than to risk losing that much paper.

Currency notes of denominations above $100 are not available from the Department of the Treasury, the Federal Reserve System, or the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. On July 14, 1969, the Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve System announced that currency notes in denominations of $500, $1,000, $5,000, and $10,000 would be discontinued immediately due to lack of use. Although they were issued until 1969, they were last printed in 1945.
So all you get is pictures these days unless you have some old ones stashed away
