Kurt, the wife would love to hang out on the islands......Thats her type of living.
As for me,I`m a roofer,I get all the sun I need every single day.I feel the heat every damn day. I just don`t get what people see in sunbathing.
I hate swimming,I don`t ski,I don`t scuba dive,I`m not a boater,I`m not a people person and I burn with ease.
I love adventures, love to drink on trips and weekends, love sports, mountains and gambling......not sittin in the sun.
Hated California, hated Florida and hated South carolina.Been to Jamaica and Aruba.....And I just don`t get it. Sand and water.
But there is one thing we got in common.........I`ll drink with you anytime...........

That pic would be nice, but theres one thing missing.......Where are all the people?
Every time I went to a beach, its crowded as hell. How is that relaxing?
But to be fair,I go on trips,I`m an adventurer.
Its all about exploring. I`d rather relax in the comfort of my own home rather than relax with a shit load of people around and be in the sun.
Rent me an all-terrain vehicle and watch me go.

Re: Kurt
Woodsy, I don't get the sunbathing thing either!
I just love the view of those ladies sunbathing!!! The diving is great, snorkeling, not so much, as like you, I burn like a redhead.
I love the palm trees, white sand, blue water. I'm a bigger fan of the mountainous type Carib islands. Not been there, but St. Lucia looks like it would be the shit! We love St. Martin.
I guaran-fukcing-tee you we would have a helluva good time wherever we met up for R&R - beach, snow bank, lakeside, or roadside tavern!
Part of the BC met up here in Indy... we need to get a few more to meet up for some serious "handicapping" with the aid of some adult beverages. Maybe an evening at 34's casino! Me love my 5 stud... 7 stud... Texas if we must.

Re: Kurt
Kurt, St Lucia is too mountainous, it takes 1 hr to go 15 miles to the other side of the mountain, nothing but "S" curves and up and downs, the Mrs almost chucked it
My shirt in St Lucia, hanging at that bar.
Coconut Bay Resort, is the place you want to be..Its on the Atlantic side, so yeah we had some 1 ft waves..We snorkeled at the Great Pitons. right inbetween the 2.

Cry you a river?..........WTF?
Hell I didn`t see your job on "Dirtiest Jobs".
Heres a small sampling of what I do:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AwH5zKeIvo
except we are to wear long sleeves shirts, pants, boots and gloves all the time.NO MATTER HOW HOT IT IS OUTSIDE!
Imagine it being 95 and humid with no wind and put that stuff on,go up on your roof and sit there in the sun for 8-9 hrs only to come down to the shade for a 15 minute break and a 30-35 minute lunch break.
After a few times of that, you`d appreciate your job.
See that clown with out a shirt......He gets burnt by that hot tar,he`ll wish the fuck he had one one.Tar brought up to the roof from our kettles are 550 degrees. And that stuff doesn`t come off. They`ll be ripping your skin off to get it off.I know,I got the scars to prove it......
Hell it would be awsome to be able to drive around with the window down/slash door open(as I`ve seen done),air conditioning. What else you whiners have?........Oh thats right, you guys get to wear shorts.
Then I started my 29th year and your CALLIN ME lazy..........? Are you kiddin me!

Re: Kurt
Ok, Island goer's. What are the best Island and places to stay ...
St Thomas...Secret Harbor, the resort is in a lagoon, has its own reef, that you can spen hours snorkeling or diving, it had depths over 35 ft. While on St Thomas, jump the ferry and in 30 minutes you are on St Johns, must see is Trunk Bay, probably the best snorkeling I have been to.
Aruba...Best bang for the buck, Tamarin all inclusive, out of this world.
St Lucia....This is up there, and last year it rained all 7 days that we were there, Must see is the Pitons, I suggest doing it by the all-inclusive catamaran cruise they offer, shopping in the AM in the capital of Castraies, sight seeing at the sulphur pits, that was stinky and we were assured that the volcano, although bubbling would not errupt..
St Croix...Great place, Buck Island is a must..Pres Kennedy declared it a national forrest in 1961, Unbelievable reef there, but the currents..You better be a swimmer.
Nassau....The Bahamas, fantastic, Theres a reef there known as TV Reef, its where most of your under water scenes are shot for the movies, but again the currents are strong, considering the reef is in the middle of the Atlantic, Salt Cay, fabulous water, the Bluest water Ive been in..Blackbeards watch, is on the Kay, interesting place.
Dominican Republic.....I dont like being captive on my resort, if I want to walk, I want to walk!! but the people make sure you are entertained on the grounds. Too much seaweed where we stayed, the beach was combed 3x a day, its where the Caribbean meets the Atlantic..
You cant go wrong anywhere in the Caribbean, the US Virgin Islands, St Thomas, St John, St Croix you can go there without passports..
After we get back in May from the Turks and Caicos, we've already are hard at work on the next years trip..St Kitts or Nevis are currently in the lead.

Re: Kurt
I'd have to really dig out some info, but I really liked Meagan's Bay on St. Thomas. Outstanding place to just float the day away in the water. No resorts there, but if you go to the island, you gotta go check it out.
St. Martin has been high on our list for a good while... very cool resort on the opposite end of the island from the airport... surely the name has changed since our last visit.
Jamaica... Sandals Whitehouse Resort. One word. Awesome. This is a place where you do stay on premise, so don't go there for any longer than 3-4 days.
Had a great time in Aruba just recently. We stayed at a low key/low rise (2 story) place called Amsterdam Manor, which was great, for what we wanted... relaxation. No casino action, but those are just 3 minutes up the road.
Overall, I think you just can't beat the cruise ship thing. Be selective about the cruise line you choose. Carnival - no. Disney - absolutely not. Royal Caribbean - some of their cruises - the longer ones - are fine. be careful of any of the shorter ones.
Not a fan of Cancun. Or anything on mainland Mexico, for that matter. Cozumel is a nice cruise stop, but can't speak to the on island stay.
