Well today I loaded up the 6 bags of ready mix I had in the garage and hauled them up to the backyard and unloaded them and went to my favorite building supply store and hauled home another 15 bags to get started on this early project.

It isn't my personal record but I just mixed up 20 bags and poured em into the form I made.......so I had one bag left over.

Now this is still only 1/3 of the project so I will still have to go get another 40 bags and do the rest.......1/3 at a time since 20 bags is plenty of work no matter how old you are.

Can't wait to get this finished so I can take the forms down and see how it looks.

12ft X 5ft and 2ft high.

Hey man, mixing the 'crete in a wheelbarrow will kick your ass if you're not used to it.

I actually don't mix it in a wheelbarrow or a mixer....I have one of those poly containers a little bigger than a 5 gallon bucket that you pour a bag of ready mix in and add water and then roll it on the ground for less than a minute and take the lid off and pour it where ever you need it.......I have had mine for about 15 years and it still works like new and I have mixed over 4 tons of concrete with this thing.

(here is a picture of it in case you never heard of it)
http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/nga-gardenshop_2050_12221372

I actually have 2 of then since I found one for sale at a junk store for $5 once but got the first one at Lowes.

The reason I don't have the cement truck here all the time is because my projects just won't work with a monster truck that shoots that stuff all over the place and they try to do it so damn fast so they can take the money and run while you try to fix that mess they make.

I did have them fill my foundation with about 15yrds years before I actually built this house so now it is 100% concrete under my place.

This project I am doing right now takes about 60 bags total and they are poured into the form I made out of wood I have stashed so I didn't have to buy anything and it is 5 1/2 in thick and since it is 12ft long I will do just under 8ft and then flip it around to finish it.

So the concrete costs me $150 and the labor is free smile
Can't wait to finsh and tear of the forms to see how it looks and then picksome cap stones for the finish.

Hard to explain but here is a picture and you can see why I can't have the mixer come here and shoot it into the form.

Whats you price per bag?

Of course shipping from Pa to the Olympic Peninsula can't be as cheap as my connection here where I know the owner.....he went to school with my son "shameless Hustler"the BC rookie of the year last season.

I picked up some rebar and 20 more bags this morning and the went and played 18 holes of golf up in Sequim at the Dungness Golf Club / 7 Cedars Casino.

The son and I played some pretty good golf,,,got a early birdie on a par 4 and lots of nice long putts in fact made a 25ftr on the 18th hole to make it a perfect day sunny

Depends I have a price range between 4.20 a bag and 3.15 a bag depending on the level of customer, the bigger the customer, the cheaper.

We go through 4-5 trailer loads of concrete mix, mortor and grout fill a week...My Company complained to Qucikrete 2 years ago, because they put a Home Depot literally at our back door, and we couldnt compete with their prices on concrete..Quickrete gave us the same selling price they gave to Home Depot.

The closest Home Depot I have is about a 90 mile round trip so I go to the local place and there is a new one that just has lumber and stove pellets and ready mix and he makes it easy to load them so I get em there for $2.69 which is the best price around here.

I picked up 20 bags yesterday and brought em home and then went out and played 18 holes of golf......actually got pars and birdies too.

Best part was on the 18th hole I had a 25ft putt to end the day and that baby rolled straight in the cup hellyes

We only have 60lb bags around here or I would try and find a deal on 80's

We do have 80lb bags of portland cement but as you know you have to find the sand and gravel to add to that.

But hey bro......load a truck and drive me over a couple tons at your price -minus- shipping of course.

Beers on me and the tour too (and I know your Coors Light would be cheaper than what I buy lol )

It is nice and sunny here right now (ok night this second) so I plan on doing a lil mowing and then mix my next 20 bags I just got so I can finish this project this week.

I don't know if this makes the news back east but the Hood Canal floating bridge (longest in the world on salt water) closed at midnight and is being half replaced so I can't get off the Peninsula for almost 2 months unless I drive around the canal and that is a long ass trip to get over to the Seattle side.
