Hey Kurt last years experience
What do I need to expect this year at the SB?
Is it hectic?
Bars so crowded I gottawalk sideways and wait 15-20 mins to get a beer?
Traffic?
People with attitudes?
What kind of things did you enjoy doing when you were there?
Fill me in...............

Re: Hey Kurt last years experience
Well, keep in mind we're talking Miami... South Beach... Lauderdale.
It was crowded nearly everywhere we went. The bars and restaurants were packed. But keep in mind that's because you WANT to be where the action is, just like everyone else. That's why you're there! You want to take it all in.
Traffic was horrendous. But, I also hear its always that way. Everything was very expensive. Very expensive... food, drinks, rooms, etc.
We loved the NFL Experience outside the stadium... very cool.
We LOVED South Beach on SB eve... you will HAVE to figure out where the AZ version of that scene will be.
Attitudes... no, didn't notice that. I don't mean this to be a jab, but the worst attitudes we experienced were the overly confident Bear fans. They were loud, obnoxious, and over the top confidence-wise. My favorite line to say was "Enjoy yourselves tonight, because tomorrow night won't be so fun for you!"
You'll be fortunate, as I think you said you had a pal that lived in the area. Save mucho $$ that way. We ate all our meals out, as that's what we do for entertainment... we like to eat out and I was really into the $eafood.
Have a great time, Woodsy... I've done it once... I don't see me doing it again. Unless I win the lottery or something. As I recall, It was a $5000 4 day weekend. A bit on the pricey side, I'd say... but well worth every damn penny!

Wait 15-20 minutes for a beer? Tell you what...stock your room with beer, drink a shit load of it...get a big tumbler fill it up with three and then walk the place.. Then when you actually do order a beer, it won't be a big deal because you will already be buzzed.
Green Bay/New York or Pats/SD fans...I would have to say GB vs. SD fans would be a heck of a time but nothing to look at as far as women are concerned from GB! haha Both fan bases would be good to party with and would be very gracious and respectful. NY vs. The Chowds? Holy shit! There would be a riot every night! haha

Re: Hey Kurt last years experience
Kurt what about the NFL Experience?
They say they have 50 NFL stars signing autos, did you participate in that??
If so were the stars actually mediocre players?Past and Present?
How long were the lines?
Do they have souvenier stands outside the stadium?
Can you drink outside the stadium?
Beer stands?
Did any ex or current players from all teams make any appearances around the bars or stadium?
Sorry but I will probably be full of questions in the next week.
And yeah i do have a friend that lives 10-15 mins. away.Plus he has an extra vehicle that I can use if needed.
So no hotel room or rent-a-car...........How sweet is that??WOOHOOO

Re: Hey Kurt last years experience
Birds I can`t take GB at all.And it has mostly to do with family.
They are Packer fans at it`s worse.(my own plus the wife`s sister and her daughters)
Not a one of them congratulated me for getting to the SB last year.hell with them.
I remember in `85 my Dad and brother couldn`t get enough Bear bashing(kinda like someone on here we all know.lol)
Lived through that since `75 along with them being die hard Cardinal fans and me being a Cub fan...........
Growing and loving sports was tough in my house.........

Re: Hey Kurt last years experience
I was at the Experience for SB 30 when it was in Tempe, AZ.
That was the year the Colts were robbed of the SB in the afc championship against Pitt, because there was no instant reply to reverse a blown TD catch by Kordell Stewart at the end of the game.....he clearly stepped out of bounds before making the catch right in front of the official, but the official didn't see it because he was too close to the play and didn't have a chance to look down at Stewart's feet. So Pitt "won the game" by 4 points....but the Colts STILL almost came back with as close to a completed Hail Mary pass as you can get.....Captain Comeback almost performed the miracle!!
But that game was one of the key reasons instant replay was brought back.
Anyway, the Experience in Tempe back in 95 was cool....it was packed, but you could still get around and do stuff. I was in line to have Harbaugh sign a photo, but he took off just before my turn to go up to his table. But I still got him on my camcorder.....I yelled his name and he looked over, so that was cool.
If you collect football cards.....holy crap!! Untold tens of thousands of cards available. All kinds of cool para-fa-kneel-ya can be bought.

NFL Experience: Lots of interactive stuff (mostly for the kids, though) and plenty of photo ops. There was a cool card/momoralbilia show attached that had some outstanding stuff.
Did not participate in the autograph signings... we checked it out on the way into the game. No idea who was signing... sorry. Spent about 2 hours checking it out.
Line to get in was long... but that's because we were going into the game as well. I heard the lines were long on days leading up....but I stayed away from the area, other than day before to pick up my parking pass at a local horse track nearby. Traffic was a bitch getting in and out, though.
You could drink outside the stadium, but bring your own. I saw no beer stands on game day - very doubtful there were ever any. Inside the NFL Experience they were selling beer. Same price as during the game... $10 for a 12 oz plastic bottle!!!
I'm sure there were appearances, but we did our own thing. We did see many players, past and present on South Beach the night before. Didn't approach them, though.
On SB eve at South Beach, it was outstanding! ESPN was live on the beach, people very stoked. We ate at a cool little place alongside some Saints players and their agent. Great guys, we chartted w/ them but didn't gush over them. That's probably why they did speak with us. They were all great guys. You should have seen how much food and drink they consumed... in-fucking-credible.
You did see my pictures I posted, didn't you?
