On my way home from the office tonight...
I took a "long-cut" to avoid the traffic. Driving along, minding my own business jamming to some Eric Clapton and POP< POP< POP< POP< POP< POP!
Slam the brakes, narrowly avoiding a tree, I realize I've been peppered with paint balls! Turns out the car that just passed going the other way thought they found a sucker, I guess. I turned around lickety split and let the caddy roll! Caught up with the little bastards at a stop sign, stuck by the traffic I was avoiding! I parked the car at an angle in front of them and approached the drivers window. Telling the little POS to get the fuck out of his car, I notice his and the two others with him have now been scared shitless! The little prick throws the car in reverse, and punches it.
Unfortunately, he didn't realize a pick up had pulled up behind and BAM! Slammed into his front bumper!
Well, the police finally arrive. Turns out the little SOBs called and said I was gonna kick their asses, and that I was trying to physically pull them from the car! The cop is eyeing me hard and acting like he's going to cuff me! I calmly told the tale, the truck driver told his story, and the cop looked at the front of my car and believed the truth. One of the little punks finally fessed up and CK was, well, quite relieved!
I relented on having the cop file criminal recklessness charges and settled for a vandalism charge. I remembered doing stupid stuff too, but really just wanted to put the fear of god in them. I went to the trigger man, gave him my card and told him I wanted a book of free car wash coupons in the mail within a week, and we'd be cool. The driver of the truck agreed to trade info with the kid, so no police report n the accident, either.
The punks got off easy, the cop was good with not having to do a bunch of paperwork, and I took off to get the car cleaned off. i do have the incident report number (the cop called and left it on my VM) so if I don't get my car washes... CK gets the report and pays mom & dad and the wanna be a little visit.
I just wanted to go home and have an uneventful dinner...

DAMN.....sounds like crooked_steve was in Indy
Those dopes are lucky the cops didn't haul em away no matter what you and the truck driver said after he got the facts.
Those dopes probably do shit all the time that they need to get caught for doing.
I wouldn't have been so nice myself.
But then I guess you are lucky they didn't have a different gun when you stopped them CK

No doubt they'll remember that all their lives. This is how young idiots learn the limits of society.

UPDATE - 01/14/2008
I gave the shooter a week to get me the car wash coupon. As of last Thursday - nothing. I got a copy of the Incident report and contacted the officer for his thoughts... he said I could still press charges. He also said I was in no way outside of the law to contact the parents.
So Friday I call and leave a message at the shooter's house. Then called the driver's house. Got his mother on the phone. SHE STARTED REAMING ME LIKE I WAS THE GUILTY PARTY HERE!!! Nothing I could say would make her relent. So, I took the high road and thanked her for speaking with me. Now I'm pissed and convinced I'm gonna press charges.
Saturday AM the shooter's dad calls me. He's very apologetic... just heard about it that morning. He said he would have beat their asses right there on the spot and thanked me for handling it the way I did. He promised me the coupons are on the way. My son and I go to the #14 ranked Butler Bulldog basketball game (a win, of course...) and when I get home there's another message for me. The shooter called to say the envelope was in the mail and that he was sorry.
Faith restored, except for the driver. He's a punk, his mom's a bitch, and he'll get his ass kicked soon enough. Too bad he's not 18 or it would be kicked by me...
