CRAVN.....satellite dish question.......
Do you have the old C-band 10ft dish these days????
After 24 years we just lost that ABC east coast channel on T-6 transponder 20
The wife always watches her shows 3hrs early and I get to watch games and other stuff.
I only have the damn hand crank now so I just spent the last 45 mins cranking and going back in over and over looking for other satellites and all I could find was Arnold Murray and Gene Scotts channels (just like when I first built this thing back in Jan 1983)
Back when the satellits were called Westar and Comsat.
Now I may finally have another big commercial grade flower pot.

Re: CRAVN.....satellite dish question.......
No, Im on the modern day 2ft round dish, and they are so tight with there signals, cant get anything.
Someone from Direct TV needs to explain to me as to why I cannot get Baltimore Local Channels, why they are forced to show me Harrisburg News and locals. On a Sunday Afternoon, on the PA channels if the Stealers aren't playing or if the Iggles arent playing they will show an entire afternoon of Gunthy-Renker, Who the F is Gunthy Runker.
I'd love to be honest with Direct Tv, and sit down with them and tell them that for 4 years, I hacked your signal, and my local channels came out of Baltimore, but I dont want them to come back on me. And the dude that had the program equiptment, he wasnt from Baltimore, he lived in the next PA town over from me.
Direct gives some poor excuse that wherever your zipcode is, thats where your local channels come from.

Re: CRAVN.....satellite dish question.......
Yeah the deal they give us with DirecTV and Dish Net are thievery
They act like we watch every channel at the same time and just the basic package you get about 10-15 channels you actually watch and the rest are just crap.
They should let us watch any group of national tv networks we want to watch......no matter where you live and which city you want the big 4 from.
I have the seattle channels of course.......but why the hell couldn't I also add .......say the NY channels so I could get east coast programming and still get the seattle channels so they can pretend that I watch the commercials and actually run out to the local store and buy shit.
I would pay the $5 a month for each package.
Hell the only reason I get the 2nd package up is to get Fox News.......which is them making us pay more just to get that channel and the ones that come with it are ones I NEVER watch.
I wish I could trade about 50 channels just for that science and the other history channel......2 for 50 seems more than fair.
But we were shocked tonight not getting that ABC east channel for the first time in 24 years
It was free all those years but it was the only one since the mid-90's since they made me switch to the 2 lil dishes just to get NFL ST on one and I already had the other lil one for NBA (quit paying this year for the 1st time) and the seattle channels.
Not ready to take down the BIG dish yet but having to go outside and guess where the satellites are when I crank and look for anything sucks.
Not gonna buy a new motor to move the thing either.
Maybe when good weather returns I could put a lil TV by the front door and crank the dish and see if they moved stuff to a new satellite or if they all went digital getting ready for the 2009 HDTV switch.
If nothing appears .....well I already have one 10ft dish out front full of dirt and several hundred bulbs and other flowers growing in it.
Be strange not seeing the big white disc in front of the house though.

Hey Magic, Direct TV does offer that option, my Neighbor pays additional for the NY and West Coast ABC,FOX, CBS & NBC Affiliates. I think it is 5.99 a month additional.

Gotta believe the g-men are aware of the Magic Kingdom with all those dishes... looks like NASA NW or some kinda COMSAT base or something. If I were your neighbor, I'd be walking around with aluminum foil on my head... all those signals being pulled your way. I bet the neighbor's kid's braces pick up Eh Say's favorite radio station, or Mighty's gay singer pay-per-view telecasts!
The neighborhood association would have a field day with a set-up like that around here... and I'M the sheriff! LOL!

That's why I'M wearing the badge, Crav. When I wanted to put in a paver patio, they came back with "what stone pavers are you going to use?"
THAT'S when I stepped up. If the covenants don't say no, then its good w/ me! I'll not become the "beauty police." I look at easements, any written restrictions, etc.
They thought I was gonna go around and tell people when to cut their grass and re-paint their house... uh uh. Not gonna happen!

Re: CRAVN.....satellite dish question.......
Summer of '05 had a $5000 patio with 2 sitting walls installed.
Was ready for stage 2 until the pricess announced her wedding plans for Aptil '08.
Was gonna do a pergola with some sort of built in grill... pavers under foot for that as well. Stage 3 is in the works... a firepit?
In the business?

Re: CRAVN.....satellite dish question.......
Yeah I use all those satellite dishes to catch the enemy before they can get too close.......but I found out when you have local psycho nuts crooks you better have a video cam to have evidence that they can't deny!!!
I have to wait all the way until February some time to see what a jury of easily tricked dopes come up with this time.......but I have 8mm video on my side this time and if all goes as it should I win $100,000 and he gets in even more trouble for using his insurance scam for over 10yrs claiming a back injury.
My video shows him cutting green alder firewood with his chainsaw and tossing the logs into his truck over and over......and another one with him lifting and then using a big rock as his hammer and pounding away for about a half hour.
The bitch is tying to steal from me,the county, and the sheriffs office.
Anyway.........I am the King of Concrete and I read the things Cravn and Kurt have been doing.
And while I was scrolling around the Dish Net channels they have DYI on free this week and I just watched an hour of a program called "Rock Solid"
That was fun......masonry and concrete projects!
They did a couple updates on old fireplaces.
One was using Italian granite to cover the brick and the rest and it was real nice and they did the other with some stone from Russia and that was nice too.
Which reminds me.....still have a couple pieces of blue pearl granite to cut so I can finish the master bathroom floor and then find a plumber to install the new toilet and pedestal victorian style sink without screwing it up and over-charging me
Then I can start on the glass block walk-in shower.

We called DirecTv today and they made us stay on the phone for 20mins just to say we can't have the East coast channels since we get the West coast channels!!!
Do you think we just got dopes on the phone or what??
Can you ask you neighbor about that?
I don't even get the West ones on DirecT now (they are on the Dish Net one)
I was hoping to get East on one and West on the other.
If DirecT won't give us this I plan on dumping NFL ST next season and making that one into a bird bath!

Magic, we love Rock Solid, the Mrs fav DIY Show.
The glass block shower is very nice especially the "no door" one. I have a stand up shower only in the Master, bexause my Mrs decided to put in a 3-Some Tub which she has not fulfilled for me yet
I like the all tile showers, with the waterfall overhead spiget,

I wish I could have DIY all the time.......but they make you pay more to get the next package up and I say "fuck that" to those thieves.
Yeah my plan is to make the glass block walk-in with no door.......just a short block to step over to get in and a typical shower curtain since it will be only for me in this master bathroom.
The wife already has her bathroom with the tub......chicks sure have to have that damn tub.....I am a shower only guy!!
The main wall and a sort of bench in the far end will be glass block but the floor and walls will be tile.......not sure what tiles yet.
But I am doing all the trim in the enire room with the victorian style tiles along the floor and for the crown moldings.
Hell all I will need to add is a flat screen and a pc and maybe have food delivered and I will just stay in there

Are you shitting me Magic, the DIY channel is extra? my bill is 74.00 a month, I dont know what the hell she orders. But for 74 bucks they could atleast throw in some of those porn channels in the 590's for me.
So if you didnt get DIY all the time guess you have never seen Blog Cabin? Thats was a good show and the Mrs was always blogging on there, basically it was the same log home as ours but you can change the interior design.

Re: CRAVN.....satellite dish question.......
Yeah I get most of my channels on Dish Network and they have one cheap package and to get just Fox News I had to get the next one up and then to get DIY you have to go up again.
I just can't go and give those thieves over $800 a year just to add DIY and a couple other channels I would like.
I remember the good old days before they invented the VCII descrambler and ALL of the channels were free.....HBO all the way to XXXtasy and the rest of those.
Funny thing was tonight I decided to go out in the cold and darke and crank the dish around to see what I could find since I had just left it on that one satellite for about 4yrs and I found a satellite with the free version of Showtime and watched a 1983 movie that Sean Penn was in called "Bad Boys"
I watched that movie in the summer of 1983 when I first built that dish!!!
It was new and I was 25 years old
Now just like the beginning I am looking for something to watch on there and still see that "Dr.Gene Scott" channel with his young wife he married before he croaked running it as the new preacher.
When I 1st hooked up that dish the Chapperal sat reciever instruction book told us to line the dish in the middle of the arc and find Gene Scotts channel on the old Westar 5 satellite (it has been on the the east end for the last 15yrs)
I wish I could just get the east coast network channels on there again some how.
Lots of nice digital channels still on the dish and the picture is better and closer to live (for sports) since the other lil dishes get their signal from the big dish and then send it back to us on those lil ones.
So NFL games are 6 seconds faster than what we get on the lil dish (I used to tease friends who had cable by "predicting" what was about to happen during games )
They have DIY on the big dish too......but you have to use a differnt type of reciever and they are over $500 just to get started again
I wish they still had NFL sunday ticket since it was $99 until DirecThieve bought all the rights
I guess I better start by getting a new almost $200 dish mover just to take a better and easier look around the arc.

Man you should know by now that winning an argument/discussion with me will never happen.........since I won't comment unless I know I will win.
So for that you get locked up for 90 days with 24 hour Fox News and Bill O'Reilly as your prison guard.
And you won't get Keith Olbermann to msnbc you to the ditch on the left side of the freeway
No matter how much he attempts to have the literary skills of Dennis Miller.

Yeah even though I never had to hack C-band it didn't bother me a bit when the guys around here did.
Sure was fun getting all the channels free in the 80's.
But the big dish still has free channels and sports can be found if you can sit and move the dish around and know how to search the arc.
And also having KU-band is nice too.
I hope I get another 24 years of the best picture on the planet.
Dish Net and Direct (and cable) need to be hacked until they get what they deserve........damn thieves.
