OK you world travelers!!
Some friends and I are thinking about going on a cruise next spring...
So we are trying to decide what type of cruise we should take.... the Ladies all want either the carribbean cruise or the Hawian cruise... Most of the guys want Alaskan...
And me.... well I'm a little old fashioned I guess, I waant to sail out of New York harbor and go to Ireland.....
So how many of you all have been on a cruise and how did you like it?

2shock here's a suggestion..............
It depends on how much time and money you have to spend. My dad took a 21 day cruise to Alaska and then back down the west coast to Central America where they then took the Panama Canal back over to the Carribben to finish up in Miami. He said it was the best trip he's ever taken.
We took a cruise with the kids a few years back. I don't think you are wanting to get on the Disney Cruise. But it was a great time and the food was some of the best I ever had!!!! Everything was payed for on the ship except the alcohol.
You have to go. You'll have a great time!!!

Thanks 99...
No the Disney cruise isn't in my plans...LOL I took my ex-fiance and her daughter to Disney in FLA (the trip from hell LOL) and if I ever see Mickey Mouse again i'll strangle him and his $7 hamburgers....
Actually I'm trying my best to get everybody sugned on to either a trans atlantic cruise OR I'm leaning more to one of the Clipper ships they have in the Caribbean.... Imagine how cool that would be actually sailing in a Tall Ship that sports 40 sails.... that would be awesome.

Not too sure about the trans Atlantic trip. Would love to go to Ireland someday but not by boat! Just watched a movie about the Lusitania tonight! LOL
Would love to sit in a pub and drink beer the whole trip!
We had a great time on the ship. Although we had a rough going on the way home. Ran into some pretty shitty weather and that wasn't fun. I have never been so sick in my life. 70 mph winds blowing up 15 to 20 ft waves! The kid that took care of our room said it was the worst weather he had seen in his 10 years on the ship.

Re: OK you world travelers!!
2shock... a couple insights.
1. My own - Cruising is great, if you select the correct cruise line. There is a huge difference! Do your homework, based on what kind of trip you want. I vote the Carribean. IMO you cant's beat the sights, weather, relaxation level. Now if you've got plenty of time, you can consider Hawaii, but the trip to and from is a downer, due to the flight time.
2. My mother cruised from NYC to England on the newest Queen something. She said the trip across the Atlantic was miserable. Cold, windy, etc. Everything they did on the way over had to be done inside.
Alaska is for blue hairs. Beautiful scenery, I'm sure, but the fun factor would be far removed from the fun to be had in de Carib, mon! They've got good beer there, too!
Keep in mind I'm a blue water, white sand, flip flop kinda guy.

Thanks Ck and 99, I'm really kind of fascinated by the idea of taking one of the sailing clippers, I've always loved the idea of the tall ships and the wind in the sails.... that would be awesome!

Well hells bells then, the Bahamas is calling your name 2skock, Fly in, go to Paradise Island, and then you can take the Booz n Cruiz, 50.00 You sail around the Island on a 1800's Viking Ship , drink like a fish, its pretty amazing how loose these folks get after 4 hours of pounding them down.
Cruising is not for me, I want to get there, put a drink in my hand, feet in the sand, eat when I want to eat, and not dress up for dinner unless I want to.

Got the perfect solution for ya bro. Drive from your home to Philly, book your flight on Air Jamaica, the Champagne Flight, unlimited Champagne from take off to landing, you'll never know your in the air
I dont like flying myself, thats why Hawaii will never be on my list of places to see. I can handle 4 hours in the air tops, I was tested when we went to Aruba, weird 3 hours down, 5 hours back we got out of the airplane just as the Ky Derby was going off, man I was pissed I missed it.

LOL I think I'm more scared of Philly than I am of flying LOL...
I've been looking at some of the Missippi river cruises too.. Now that would be pretty cool... taking a big Paddlewheel down to the Gulf...

Philly Airport is a piece of cake, I've got down to where I park and get valet service to the door, and when I return I call them and they are there to pick me up.

It's just kinda a long drive from Indy to Philly.... I can MAKE myself get on a plane, jst not for very long.....
I'm actually better in a small plane beleive it or not, like the piper cubs adn the little ones.... where I can see everything that is going and I know everything is ok..
Those damn airlines, all the engines could be out and the little robot girl would still be smiling and asking if you were comfortable for the rapid descension...
