Thanks for askin'
I'm in a pretty densely populated area, about 10 miles form the nearest blaze, so I'm in no immediate danger unless the santa ana's keep blowing for a week or two.
But I can still sit in my front yard at night and watch the orange glow dance on the horizon when the wind parts the smoke. It's pretty eerie..

Re: Anyone smell smoke?
I'm afraid nature is gonna be kicking our butts for a couple of decades. It's gonna get bad, I fear......fires, hurricanes, earthquakes. Some MAJOR changes taking place on this planet. It's going to send us over the edge to national bankruptcy.
Hell...this country is already bankrupt.
Better make sure your family's financial health is top notch in the coming years!! Don't be in debt (no mortgage, either). Have a good commodity surplus (gold & silver coins). Don't live in the major population centers if you can avoid them. Have a food supply that can last you at least 2 full months, preferrably up to a year. The new freeze-dried foods they sell now have a shelf life of 30 years, and you can have a full year's supply of food for one person for under 4k....that's only $3.65 per meal for an entire year. Store at least 10 gallons of honey as well. This is an excellent bartering item that everybody will want and need. Also, own guns and ammo....lots of ammo. Practice using a shortwave radio.
That's my SHORT list of requirements
I almost forgot.....learn to make your own BEER

Actually, the bigger super scooper planes are on lease from Canada, ay..
Thanks for the thoughts guys, but do me a favor and put all the people who've lost their homes in your prayers. These fires don't care if you were in a mansion or a mobile home, they left 1000's homeless. Watching the local TV coverage has really shown the devastation to not only homes, but families struggling to cope..
BTW, mighty, in So Cal the wildfires and earthquakes are pretty much an accepted risk, along with the accompanying mudslides that are sure to follow as the next big downpour washes away fire-spared houses on hillsides that no longer have vegetation to hold them together.
Still, I'll take these things over any tornado. If I ever saw one of those, I'd shit where I stand..
