Happy 100th Birthday

Get a load of this: Before my folks were married, my pop worked at Old Tucson. This is a recreation of an 1800s Southwestern town, the way it really was back then in the days of Wyatt Earp. Many westerns were filmed at Old Tucson, which is about 10 miles west of the city of Tucson itself.

Anyway, my dad worked there as a photographer. Would you believe me if I told you that my dad had the opportunity on several occassions to sit in the bar at Old Tucson and DRINK WITH JOHN WAYNE??? I am not shitting you.

Think about it.....my pop not only rubbed elbows with the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo astronauts, he freaking knocked back shots of whiskey with John Wayne while Wayne was filming movies!!!

I mean, c'mon man!!! That's ridiculous. What the hell have I done by comparison?? Jack Shit, that's what!!


Well, anyway.....John Wayne was a huge guy, and he was a hard drinking alcoholic. He could drain vast amounts of hard booze. As a matter of fact, while filming a movie, he would knock back shots between sets!!
