Dshock, keep in mind that some software still isn't compatible with Vista. I'll wait another year or two before I begin using the new OS, and let Microsoft work out the bugs.

XP is still a stable, secure, quality system.

Well, I did it today.... about a $400 upgrade with the new sticks and the OS upgrade....

And I have to say I am DAMN impressed with Vista.... Great looking and it actually works pretty well so far as I can tell. The New IE is also pretty cool... kinda a ripoff mix from the MAC browser and FireFox.... but it works pretty well so far....

Between the RAM upgrade and the new OS my little system is a gem now... And for the record most of the software I used had Vista updates ready to install as soon as I looked them up... So far that has been for my Digital Camera (Kodak) and my all in one printer (Lexmark) and my mobile broadband modem actually works better with Vista then it ever did with XP.... My speedtest with XP had dowloads at around 1200 bps... with Vista it really jumped to around 2200 bps.... and they say it will get faster very soon as my area is to get the REV A upgrade for Sprint this summer.....

All in All I'm a pretty happy camper tonight... king

Well my first problem with Vista LOL

My recomendation is..... go to your hardware manufacturers web-site to see if they have Vists pre-install downloads available BEFORE you runthe Vista upgrade... I didn't.. I got a windows error message that BOTH my D drive AND my C drive were in danger of failing.... AARRRGGGHHH!!!

So I fired off an email to customer support at HP to find a patch... I did the issue on their troubleshooting web-site, but hopefully I don't have to run a system recovery and start completly over again... it took a couple of hours to install Vista....

I hope to god they have a patch since theyknow about the problem....Something about the XP partitions not being compatable with the Vista partitions....I guess you have to reformat the HD's before you run the install....

Sure am glad Microsoft informed of this when i did their pre-install computer check on their web-stie!!!!

But the OS is still SWEET... it blows Tiger away.
