Colts general manager Chris Ballard continued his commitment to improving the team's linebacker core when he signed Jabaal Sheard and John Simon.
Sheard was part of a New England defense that led the NFL in fewest points allowed at 15.6 per game last season.
Simon comes to Indianapolis after playing in Houston, which had the league's overall top defense last season.
Sheard and Simon join fellow linebacker Barkevious Mingo, who agreed to a deal on Thursday.

Coach Pagano's ties to the Ravens continue. Can't name one former Raven he's picked up that had an impact. There may be one or two but I'm having trouble recalling any. Probably says something, either about my memory or Pagano's choices.
