Spring has Sprung
Here on the east side of the Olympic Peninsula anyway
Man that was a lil baby Sequoia tree not long ago.
I forget how old the palm tree is.
(oh and R&R stopped by today so both of the BC winners have been taken care of now)

Re: Spring has Sprung
Well, I'm happy for you, Magic. I'm looking out back at 5 West… back patio has easily 12, probably 15 inches of snow accumulated. But we're supposed to see 55 Thursday. With rain. Maybe one of those rainbows will land over this way…

Re: Spring has Sprung
We haven't got more than 2 inches of snow here this winter but we have got several inches of rain already.
I always watch the weather report back where you live and see that cold coming down from Canada and sweeping across the States by the lakes which always reminds me of the dumbass things said by Gore and Kerry all the time.
I hope you do get that 55 degrees to melt that snow and here it does look sunny but the next couple months we get highs in the low 50's and usually in the 40's with rain pouring down so heavy that it blocks the signal from the satellites and freezes up the picture on the tv which reminds me of the good old days with the 10ft dish that never had any problem with the pouring rain and the snow usually slid off the dish before it did much to the picture (and it cost less back then too)
But if the snow doesn't melt just stay home and have your office phone calls forwarded to you

Re: Spring has Sprung
What a great day, and to think 12 miles away Daytona was getting hammered with hail, rain tornado warnings, they wound up with a 6 hour rain delay of the race. By the time we got home we got hit with just a brief shower. Weather is funny in florida.

Re: Spring has Sprung
Lucky bastard!!
I could move to AZ and have that stuff but there the mexicans just walk across the border to get the welfare checks and in FLA they have to take a raft 90 miles first
It has been fucking raining so hard here the last few days that the valley is under water and the hippy pig farm next door looks like a lake.
It looks ok on my property but I haven't went on patrol since I just woke up and went out and planted some daffodils I got to add to my giant concrete flower box.........the ones already there are all up and about 5 inches tall and the tulips have been up for a week or 2
We had extra Anna hummingbirds here this winter and the rufous hummingbirds should be here any day and we usually get over 50 and close to 100 on a good year.
Tony and Sarah the mallards are back and chasing their children of the past away so they get all the seeds and bread.
(if Tony Siragusa ever heard the story he would probably come here and build my Man Cave (well finish it for me anyway)
My Dad is still in Yuma and he would get hummingbirds nests and babies in his orange and grapefruit trees.
Since I did the repairs on my creek waterfall it hasn't flooded enough to go over the top and head towards the house and then back in the creek like it did and it just goes over the falls but I am going to do another repair this summer right where the water goes over the falls so I either have to do a temp change in the creek by digging a ditch so it goes around it and making a nice concrete waterfall or just try to make one on land and lay it in there after it cures and hope it fits in there (can't use the "measure twice cut once thing on concrete")
Hey does your big palm tree grow "fruit" or is it a flowering male???

For some reason I have never seen a female palm tree for sale at the garden centers and there is a place I check every few years and they have tall palm trees and they are all males.
My older one is a male and I won't know if the other 3 are males until they get bigger since they don't flower until they are over 10 years old.
My Mexican palm I got last spring looks dead so I am going to pick a flowering tree out that lives in this area and replace it.
Just went outside close to midnight and we have a clear sky for a few more hours so I could see Mars in the SE and Jupiter on the opposite side in the NW chasing the Moon as it sets.......Big Dipper straight up above me.
By morning it will be raining cats and dogs and even ducks and geese

Re: Spring has Sprung
Learned a little trick from the tree guys, when they were cleaning the top of the tree t hey poured a half a box of Epsom salt in the top, the other half around the base. They said it makes it greener and stronger.
Have to call the tree guys this month, time for its yearly trim up

I read they like they like the Epson salt aka magnesium sulfate and potassium sulfate but I never tried it since mine look ok but maybe this year I will give it a try.
You should have the hummingbirds there but they probably are at your neighbors house since they tend to go to the same house every year and maybe the previous owner didn't feed em at your place but all you have to do is put the feeder out but just use sugar water and not that red crap they sell at the store.
You get several types that I don't get here since mine come from Mexico and Central America
