The new star of the Cooking Channel
Look out, Rachel Ray......the new competition is fierce
It's a new cooking show called "Cooking with Intel".

Re: The new star of the Cooking Channel
YEP......CPU's and video card GPU's get real hot even when they are running with the heat sink and fans.
All my GPU cards run 24/7 between 55-59C and the one in my laptop at between 83 and 88 degrees C
I use the GPU-Z program to show me the temps
And AMD and Intels have to have the heat sink and fans working or they burn up in a few minutes and got to Cravn's gold stash
I have the side panel off of mine and the 20 inch fan blowing across all of them in the unheated room upstairs.

Re: The new star of the Cooking Channel
Yeah, I have the side panel off on the machine I'm using now.
But I've already bought my new case, the Corsair C-70 Vengeance, military green.
Check it out on Amazon and Youtube, it's awesome.
I also bought the motherboard, an ASUS Maximus Hero VI
All told, I'll spend around $1300 on this build.
I won't need to keep the side panel off....there will be two 140mm intake side fans, two 140mm intake bottom fans, a 120mm fan for the ssd, and below that I'll take the bottom cage out and put in another 140mm intake fan in front. Then I'll have the two 140mm exhaust fans on top, and the 120mm exhaust out the back.
Nine fans in all, not including the two smaller fans on the graphics card and one or two 140mm fans on the cpu cooler....12 or 13 fans in all
Total overkill
I'm looking forward to putting it all together. I decided I'm not going to buy another box-store machine....I'll just build my own from now on

Re: The new star of the Cooking Channel
Mighty, you forget to mention the added benefit of there being another source of heat for the wintry home!

Re: The new star of the Cooking Channel
Well he is in Arizona so he probably needs to use those fans and one of those liquid coolers just for AC even in the winter
What video card did you get Mighty_G??
Sounds like it cost you so it better be one of the newest nVidia GeForce overclocked!!!
Those video cards and the top of the line i7 intel processors is where most of the money goes (quads or better)

Wintery home?? Here??
No need for artificial heat here, Blue.
There's plenty of natural heat to go around
Ahhhhh....the graphics card
I'm going with an over-clocked GTX760
It's $270, but that card gives me the most bang for the buck. Later this year I may buy another one for SLI....doing that would rival Titan
I'm not going with the i7, they run hot plus they're over $100 more than an i5 4670, so I'm going with the i5.
I can over-clock the i5 just fine, especially with the ASUS board...it's designed for easy over-clocking...over-clocking for dummies.
Although I'm not going with water cooling at this time. I was thinking about it, but I want my main machine to be stable and reliable, so I'm staying with air-cooling, which means I won't be over-clocking much with this machine unless I want to go with an ugly Noctua heatsink. I don't want the hassle and inconvienence of a water cooler heatsink pump going bad after only a year or two...I don't want that for my main machine. It would be ok for a second computer.
Although there's a great air-cooling option with the Zalman 9900, but that won't fit my case if I have the upper side fan installed....I'd have to remove that fan to fit the Zalman in there, which I do NOT want to do...I want that fan blowing on my graphics card.
But I do love the Zalman 9900, especially the all-copper version....awesome cooler, and effective, too...you can over-clock like crazy with it, and it doesn't interfere with the memory slots.
That's ok, though......I decided to go with a Cooler Master blow-down option. It fits my board perfectly, doesn't interfere with the memory slots, and looks good, but not as cool-looking as the Zalman. I can over-clock a little bit with the Cooler Master blow-down version, but not past 4.0...even that may be too much.
