Don't worry, you have lots of company. Flood insurance rates have gone CRAZY! That's what happens when the govt. gets into the insurance business... A policy that cost $1000 last month is now $6000... and that's with a $5000 ded.

Funny you say that, we are shopping for homeowners for next year, because of the stunt my insurance co just pulled..And for the life of me I cant figure out who Im more pissed at, the insurance Co or the mortgage Company..

I get a nasty gram from Mrtg Co that escrow acct is short 1300.00, 533 for the buffer acct(whatever the fuck that is) and get this, my homeowners went up 660 per year..So therefore my mortg will be increasing 150 a month..

that set me off, I call insurance Co, and Im told that after reviewing our policy that it "was determined, 1. that my home is a stick build and 2. we are in the hurricane zone". My response, 1. show me a home in Fl that is NOT a stick build, and 2. What part of Fl is not in the hurricane zone..2 1/2 hr drive i can see the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf, so WTF

Im just pissed because the mortg co, just paid the insurance co with no notification to us beforehand, and to recieve a nasty gram a couple of weeks later is ludicrous.

Needless to say, I recalled the Insurance Co, and told them how bush league they were, and that in 2014 Im dropping them and seeking Insurance elsewhere...

Those are the correct spreads. Kinda difficult to ready for anyone who is in any way red/green color blind.
