Night Sky
Clear, beautiful night here. Went out back and fired up Night Sky on the iPhone. Saw The International Space Station rise in the WSW, rise to the NW, head E, then dive back off the horizon in the E. Never would have picked it up without the app. Cool stuff.
Hope to have a great day on the lake with the extended family. Couple pontoons, ski boat, and thought we had the b-i-l's wave runner ready (its in my slip with the 'toon), but just tonight it went down. The electrical just shut down... partially. Induction fan and bilge work, but nothing to the instrument panel or engine. Bummer. Best that it broke tonight, far better than tomorrow with someone on it a ways away from the group... breakdown on other side of lake.

Well except I gave you the link to look up the exact times that the ISS flies over you a couple years ago from my XP Pro
(I was just outside before 1am myself)
Have fun on the lake

Re: Night Sky
Enjoy the lake Kurt
Our beach trip yesterday was cut short do to one of the passing squalls from that tropical depression passing by us, so we packed up the car came home and jumped into the pool.
My Grandson absolutely loves it here.

Re: Night Sky
Thanks, guys. It was great!
Fired up the grill, had some sliders w/cheese, chicken tenders/strips, and beef franks while floating in the cove... on the water a solid seven hours!
Just not summertime hot, though. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving the 70-80 temps. But I do want some smokin' -gotta go get in the water-hot days. When the 'toon's not down. (which, by the way, was a 2 week, $800 fix... )

Re: Night Sky
Been an odd year for the pontoon, John. Combination of crappy boating weather and the one mechanical breakdown that kept the 'toon out of the water for the hottest 3 weeks of the season. The time on the boat is outstanding. The breakdown, well its a 12 year old unit. Bound to have an issue every now and then. Now I know the fuel system is aok and completely replaced. Fuel pumps, vapor separator tank, fuel lines... all new.
Overall, been the best $8K I've spent. You'll love it, John!
All together, now... "Red solo cup, I'll fill you up, lets have a party!"

I can think of a couple things I enjoy seeing exposed on the beach...

Re: Night Sky
Well that was the best view of the ISS I have ever had here.
They said it would be a 6 minute version but it seemed longer.
I was out in the middle of the front yard looking WSW and I was looking right at it as it started coming directly over me heading ENE and watched it go right over my place heading across until it was out of sight.
Wish I would have brought the binoculars with me.
It will be back in 90mins so maybe I get another look but it won't be as nice as that one.
-------------------------------
In about 15mins the craft from Japan (HTV4 ) will be crossing the sky as it is chasing the ISS to bring it some groceries ........never looked at that one yet.
