Need your contacts!
I'm in the process of making my arrangements for the Miami trip.
The packages being offered to travel with a group are what I consider and call... stupid expensive.
$3500 to $5000 for airfare and 3 nights in a hotel. That's no food, drinks, fun.
Anyone have a line on a condo, hotel, etc. in that area? Know of a small mom & pop type operation on the beach? You know, the older motels we all stayed in as kids on vacation? 2 story in a U shape around the pool?
I'll drive 1-2 hrs. to/from the game if I have to.
I want to go. I have to go. But I won't spend $7000 for 3.5 days in Florida.
Help a fellow BCer out!

Check out North Miami Beach Kurt.. In Particular a Hotel Dusselldorf if it's still there.. We used to stay there when I lived in Panama City and used to go to South Beach... We found about it when we went to Miami to see IU play Florida at the O-rena way back when the program was still respectable. You might check out Hollywood too...
But with it being SB Sunday.... I don't know your chances...But North Miami Beach would be a good start. Older Hotels of course, not 5 stars by any means, but it's worth a shot.
And Stay Away from Overtown if you value your life. Bad, Bad area.

Not many people think of these. Good ol State Parks. Here is one right in the Miami Metropolitan area that has camping in air conditioned cabins.
http://www.floridastateparks.org/oletariver/default.cfm
On the bottom right is a list of other nearby camps.
They will be way better than depending on eating out. Buy some groceries. Cook hanburgers and hotdogs on a fire. Leave for the game like you would from home. Go back to camp, crack a beer, cook out, go to sleep and go home. It will be cheap compared to a hotel and restaurant and way more fun watching some critters outside than the "critters" in a hotel/motel.
I would drive and camp before spending all that money on a plane and hotel.
NOW CALL THEM QUICK!!!

Kurt.. get off of Orbitz, they suck and are too expensive, try Expedia or Travelocity, thats how I book.
Also, look further to the west, Ft Myers beach, you can always get a rental car you would only be an hour west of Miami.
Good luck Kurt.

Hey Kurt,
Now if you really want to kill 2 birds with 1 stone, The Atlantis Hotel & Casino is throwing a SB junkit, Fly into Nassau on Saturday, party on the white sandy beaches of the Bahamas, then puddle jump from Nassau to Miami for the game and back.
If you have time during the day www.wnst.net, click on listen live, they are advertising the hell out of it.
Now thats the way I would want to go at it. Nassau is only 80 miles from Miami.
