The bride went over to the son's to give my d-in-law a break, as the son is in Vegas for company meetings for work. Figured the mom of 3 could stand to get out for a few.

So at 6'ish I get a call from the wife... She's panicked and says she fell carrying the 1 year old and is hurt. Bad. Dislocated shoulder. I'm 25 min away...

Long story shortened, 5hrs at the ER and we're home. She is one sore puppy. Surely to be worse in the am... Given her other issues... Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis, this is no small thing... Fortunately, I didn't have to witness them getting the arm back into place, and the conscious anesthetic they gave her... well, she really doesn't remember the process, either. Good thing. The doc said it was hard to get back in place. Gotta believe that hurt like hell. whoa

Gonna be a long road back. bluehoo

Bummer......you two should never be more than a couple feet away from each other Kurt.

And here I was thinking you guys went to the Colts Grill for the Draft Day Party I was just reading about.

She will be ok.....and umm.......the kids are suppose to visit with the lil ones but not have the old folks do the work they already did back in their youth mischief

(don't tell her I said that part)

But we are the same age.

Ouch, babe.

I'm really sorry for your girl.

But like you said, she was spared the agony of getting the shoulder popped back into place.

As it turns out, she fell, dislocated - without dropping the 1 yo - and rolled to floor. Felt arm pop back in... still in pretty intense pain. Corralled the 5, 3, and 1 yo in one of the bedrooms and called d-in-law. 1 yo heads to an electrical outlet - and you guessed it - she instinctively reaches out to stop him. BOOM! DISLOCATES THE SAME ARM AGAIN! This time, game over.

Surgeon this morning said rotator cuff is surely shredded. MRI Tuesday for verification...

This is the stuff that keeps us young... right?

Ah, you're correct on your synopsis of the day. Pretty shitty, for sure. Don't know what to say except, perhaps, curtail any sort of grandchildren watching in the future at least until they get older. I visited mine this evening and had a great time catching my granddaughter's fast-pitch softball throws. For 10, she's got some very good speed.

Keep us in the loop on the Mrs. and her condition, Kurt. Put on your best caregiver smile and disposition, Kurt. That's what partners are for.

To THAT I give a double sucks sucks

And yeah I have had the back problem for almost 30 years now but just got the shoulder problem back in December and was hoping it would go away but after all these months I finally went to my doc and he set me up for the MRI........hell I don't fit in that damn thing.......my shoulder was not in the thing they have attached to that MRI doughnut and to get me to slide in that thing I had to pull my other arm so it was laying down the center and he layed a towel on my left side so I would barely slide in the damn thing!!

No way can they put a big fat guy or broad in that damn thing.

The result was.....well they didn't get a good look so now they have other plans and the surgery was mentioned but no thanks.

I retired from golf last year and with my shoulder problem I just can't swing my right arm back or do things like reach into my pocket or put on the seatbelt without sharp pain and a cracking sound.......but as far as reaching forward or lifting I have no problem as long as it is reaching out in front of me (like these 80lb bags of concrete I did today)

They want me to also drive to town for rehab......hell I don't need some gov paid clown to tell me how to stretch and warm up these old bones......been doing that for decades.

I was thinking about bowling to replace golf but that back-swing won't be much so I would have to figure out how to half-swing and still make the pins fly like when I was a youngster smile

Well heres the problem with shoulder surgery, it is very painful, and very slow to heal. Theres not adequate blood flow to the shoulder region, you need blood flow to heal.

Through my 3 back surgeries, I wasnt laid up long, maybe a week, then rehab started, my rehab was longer then most because i had to get to the required lifting weight oif 150 lbs..

I think Mr & Mrs Kurt need a long weekend away.

This cures all
