Joe Flacco to play JohnnyU in upcoming movie
Seeing Joe in a blue #19 will be awesome!!!!!
Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has agreed to portray the late Johnny Unitas in an upcoming film called "Unitas We Stand," according to Joe Unitas, Johnny Unitas' son.
Joe Unitas told The Baltimore Sun that Flacco will play his father playing football in the final scenes depicting the Colts' 1958 championship game victory.
"Obviously, the Baltimore ties are very important to me," Unitas said in a phone interview from his Las Vegas home. "I think it's great that Joe just won the Super Bowl with the Ravens and was Most Valuable Player in the game. A lot of the way Joe plays and his demeanor reminds me a lot of my dad. He's not a rah-rah guy. He throws a touchdown and maybe there's a little fist pump. He understands his job is all about winning and he does a phenomenal job leading the offense and the team and obviously they've developed a lot of trust after becoming a champion. He's an awesome teammate and great leader of the team.

Sad, but how typical that there's family in-fighting over making $$ off 19.

Its just 100% jealously on John Jr's part..
He'll get over it.

Money.
Many people will do anything for it, even though in the end all money is good for is a nice casket

Sure makes the journey to that casket more comfortable and fun though...

Ahhhhh, but then, the journey is meaningless after the money is spent.
Then what?

Then you have the sibling squabbling like we are now hearing about..Oh its going to get worse too.
John Jr has a vendetta against the 3 kids from the second marriage, mostly vs the 2nd wife, remember they sued each other after Johnny's death for sole possession of Unitas Management. Neither won the law suits, and Unitas Management is in limbo.
Personally, I think Junior is just jealous that he wasnt the front runner in the movie and is pissed at Joey, for going ahead with it.
I just pray that this is a football only movie, and not a whole lot of personal events in there, because ugly will appear and tarnish the greatest QB to ever lace em up's legacy.

Re: Joe Flacco to play JohnnyU in upcoming movie
Told you it was going to get worse...Joe U fires back at John Jr's comments.
To whom it may concern:
Yesterday, in the wake of all the positive news about Joe Flacco’s involvement with our movie Unitas We Stand, John Unitas Jr, and his son JC Unitas chose to take a negative view on our decision to have Joe play my dad in the scenes of the ’58 championship game, and of the project itself.
First I’d like to apologize to Joe, his family, agent, and the Ravens organization for any embarrassment these comments may have caused. Joe is a respectable man, a great player, and very similar to my Dad in many ways. The Ravens organization is top notch and I respect them very much. Both deserve better.
These disparaging remarks come from two places, ignorance of the facts, and passion for a Father and Grandfather.
Because of our common respect for Dad I’m willing to overlook any negative comments made by any member of my family and to put aside petty issues from the past. I would more than welcome an open discussion about Unitas We Stand and any potential involvement they might want to have. At the end of the day this movie is not about me riding the coattails of my father. It’s about Dad...the challenges he faced, and unbelievable hardships he had to overcome along the way to achieving his goal of becoming a professional football player. It’s my hope that this movie will serve as a reminder to older generations, and inspire younger ones, that with hard work and dedication anything is possible. This is a story that, in my opinion, captures the real struggle of my Dad to become one of the greatest players of all time. I’m grateful that Tom Callahan has entrusted his book to me and my team to make a great movie that’s much bigger than football…it’s a true story about faith, determination, and the triumph of the human spirit. My Dad deserves the best and that’s why we are making this movie.
