Not a lot of humidity...
You could school them on the finer points of basketball...

Re: SO what is Arizona like
I lived in AZ when I was a youngster (Yuma)All I remember was that in the summer I was in the pool every day since global warming started in the 60's and it would be around 120 degrees all the time.
But my Dad actually lives gown in Yumaa every winter and he seems to think it its a great place to live and play golf with other retired guys he used to work with.
Which reminds me he was a former head of systems operation at Puget Sound Power and Light (now called Puget Sound Energy)
And I just payed my last power bill the other day at PSE and as always my vote means nothing here.......a couple years ago they had a vote here to replace PSE after 91 years here with PUD......can't wait to see my next bill
They will probably add something to the bills they send to any of the PSE family......I think the name PUD fits them (Public Utility District)
May have to change this place to the Hippy Peninsula one of these days
If I could load my 5 acres on a truck I would move to Northern AZ or Texas and then add another 50 acres to it.
Northern -AZ is a great place.....beats the hell out of the weather you get in Indy and it has some scenery a bit better than looking at a lake the size of an ocean

Re: SO what is Arizona like
Arizona has a wide variety of climate and environment. You can live in the baking-hot desert or you can kick back in the chilly mountain air.
Northen AZ is awesome, I love it up there, especially Flagstaff. I did a spell at NAU, which is a quality school. But there was no WAY I was going to stick it out for a full four years and get a degree.....I much preferred doing my own thing as an entrepreneur, even if I was just going out into the biggest Ponderosa Pine forest in the world and cutting cords of firewood and then selling it.
That's true, ya know........Flagstaff is settled inside the biggest Ponderosa forest in the world. The winters are COLD, but the summers are perfect.
Then you have Phoenix and Tucson......which are ovens in the summer, but the winters are excellent.
So.....where you live will largely depend on what you do for a living.
And yep......I wouldn't mind checking out Texas. An old family friend recently moved over there. He loves it there.

Hey! I'm on the gulf (but leaving tomorrow for the long drive home). If normal Americans are on the east coast of Florida what are you doin' there? Possibly hoping some of that "normality" will rub off??

Re: SO what is Arizona like
Iam the normal one!!!! Hey Mr Norm, sorry about the cold weather you had to endure, this was the 2nd coldest Feb-March on record down here.
Didnt mean to offend with my off the wall comment, just going through some terrible times with the Govt for my youngest Son...It really burns me up.
Norm, what keeps you North? family? You have to be tired of dealing with the weather up there.

Can't say for certain, but I'm betting it has something to do with... seasons. And I'm not talking about the kind you put in crab cakes!

But you simply cannot disagree with how great it is to get up at 6am just so you can go outside and use the snowblower to clear the drive of 8" of fresh snow so you can get out for work.
Well, maybe you can...

Re: SO what is Arizona like
Hmm,
Well I work for Gannett and Phoenix is actually our largest market and they have some openings in the IT department there.
I don't really mind winter all that much, but a change wouldn't be that bad.....
I used to live in Panama City when I was younger Cravn, I don't mind FLA all that much, but once tourist season is over work can be tough to find..

Re: SO what is Arizona like
Well Shock, tourist season is year round as I found out yesterday..we go to the beach once a week, yesterday we didnt go until 12:30, well thats when everyone and their brother go down to the beach. It took as 1 1/2 hrs to make the 25 minute normal drive home..AND THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, just traffic and mis timed red lights.
New Smyrna IMO is not a popular beach, its not Daytona or Cocoa Beach, byt yesterday sure felt like it was.

Re: SO what is Arizona like
Dshock, if you're thinking of moving to Phoenix......don't underestimate how brutal endless days of 115 degrees can be.
Eventually you become hardened to it, but for newbies, it will kick your butt.

I wish I would have figured this out when I was in my 20's.......BUT I know now that a person that sits in his house for 8 or 9 months waiting for nice weather all his life is basically wasting time.
I would rather have 365 days of life every year instead of 90 days like I have had here most of my life
I would have a place down there in the winter like Dad does but these days crack and weed criminals here would break in and steal everything that isn't concrete the day after I left

Grand kids, friends, and solid medical care nearby. Important to an old geezer like me. The condo takes care of the shoveling and it allows me to leave when I want so I'll continue to take advantage of that in February and March .
