King of Concrete 2012
Well Cravn you didn't tell me exactly what you wanted out by the pool so this is what you get
It is at the end of the house outside my bedroom windows and as usual that entire end is a flower garden (the first half is the one I made for Mom in 2011) so now it covers the entire end of the house and the reason I do this is now I can just drive on by with the mower without having to stop and pull weeds and grass that will always creep its way in those places in a couple day.
I keep doing this around the place so the following spring and summer I have less damn work to do.
Of course yesterday I spent several hours non-stop digging out that spot and moving the 3 loads of dirt to another spot and then collecting some rocks and gravel to add to the 550lbs of extra strength ready mix concrete and some rebar I made........finished and cleaned up the tools just before dark.
And these always look better after the grass fills in on the outside edge and the garden side fills in later by itself.

Oh yeah just go to Home Depot and they have all kinds of mortar and color mix!
Groat mixed in a bucket too.
And they sell nice rubber gloves in the same section (I got a pair.......a bit tight but they work)
I just wish H-D was a bit closer so I could drive the truck and get even more bags of he stuff I get.
The 80lb bags of extra strength ready mix is better than that cheap crap you see at regular stores.
That is where I got the type that is mixed with fiberglass last year to make that concrete table.

I'll do it for $3/ sq in... And I'm the BEST at windows. Ask the bride. The ONLY thing she'll say I'm good at.
Yup, that too.

Re: King of Concrete 2012
I have so many projects going here every summer trying to make sure one of these years I can just mow the lawn and none of these other jobs.
BUT you can do the windows for me since that is always last on my list here.
Damn Chicago roofer was in hiding when I did that death defying roof job here last month and NOW he shows up
The reason I have the Ben Franklin stash is because I never pay people to do jobs here that I can still do.
But I see the other side of that hill right in front of me

Re: King of Concrete 2012
Ok, I have a business proposal.
I'll sign a contract with Magic to have his windows cleaned at the rate of $5 per square inch.
I'll then hire Kurt as an independant contractor to actually do the window cleaning at a rate of $3 per square inch (since Kurt indicated that he was willing to low-ball me)
I will then keep the remaining $2 per square inch for myself.
And while Kurt is doing his job, I will be out and about drumming up more work!!
Thereby, good paying jobs are created
Magic??
Kurt??
Deal??
Oh, and Cravn.....I will also do your laundry at the following rates:
Each sock = $23
Each pair of boxers = $439 (I will be wearing thick plastic gloves when I pick them up)
Each pair of pants = $29

Re: King of Concrete 2012
Ok, we are agreed.
However, I'll have to sub-contract out to Miguel for the driveway. He's an expert at smoothing things over, whether that be a driveway or using his incredible diplomatic skills on internet message boards.
Yep, 'ol Miguel has no rough edges. He's as smooth as a prom queens thighs.

Easy job??? says who??
You just dont throw the clothes in and hit the button, theres skillz in whites with whites, socks, in ten years If I wash 10 pair of socks, I get 10 pair of socks back..Towel;s get washed seperately, I let them air dry 95% then throw them in the dryer for that fluffiness.
Easy job my ass..

Well here it is an easy job since we haven't had more than 2 people in this house and if it was just me doing my clothes it would be once a week and I only have about 5 pars of socks.....all white.
Here it is at most a load every 2 or 3 days and I would trade what I do for pouring in soap and pushing a button and then tossing them in the dryer and pushing a button.
Then hours watching the bigscreen tv siting on a LazyBoy leather sofa or chair.
Same in the kitchen.
Hell I use one dish over and over and turning on the water in the kitchen sink is pretty easy too
Today I was out in the burning sun scaping old paint off the old garage and repainting the damn thing while millions of hornets are around me and I have a crappy spray jug with bug killer next to me which had t be pumped before I could even defend myself .....and the sprayer is new.
Now I did a repaint of the entire front of the building on 9-11-2009 on a 80+ degree day and came back in the house when I was done and sat down to have my first heart attack (she just said I was having a digestion problem and left me on the couch with a heating pad and then I had another one the next day and off to getting the stents at the hospital)
Hard to top what I do with doing laundry or using the oreck vacuum in this house.
And you may remember many, many other things I have done where 99.9% of people would not do a damn thing but sit on their ass watching tv and eating.

Re: King of Concrete 2012

Ahhhhh.......I figure that out of the $3 per square that you're being paid, 30 cents per square should cover all expenses.
You're still makin' good dough.
Don't forget that I'll be on the road all the time drumming up more work, so much more of the $2 per square that I make will go towards travel.
And then, after the business is flourishing, we can say with satisfaction:
WE BUILT THAT.
Oh, wait a minute, I forgot. We DIDN'T build that. The government built that.
So why should we do all the hard work and take all the risks, if we didn't actually build what we built??
So let's forget the whole thing.....let's not start this business and create good paying jobs, since we didn't build that
Re: King of Concrete 2012
I've been building this thing called Fieber & Reilly since 1992. The guys before me since 1896. Since PotUS says I didn't build it, I guess that means I'm not responsible for the debt that has come along with it?
I do like that angle.

Yep.
That's what we're facing. It's a grave threat to any free nation, a worse threat than any form of terrorism.
Classic video.
