Re: Soooo...
Well I pity those crickets because in a few minutes I will be getting outside to spend the next 4 hours mowing my lawn since I am way behind so this should be another long day of work
The sun finally decided to come out here.

Re: Soooo...
Wellit took a bit longer than 4 hours since I let it go when I ws doing that roof project
It was like the first mow of the spring..........like cutting hay.
But it's done and I did a couple other things since jobs ar always on the way in between other jobs here.
Hittin' the showers and I have a Samuel Adams and my beer glass in the freezer so it should be perfect by the time I get out.
Sunny and close to 80 today.
btw why is this guy shooting like this today?
Looks like he has been smoking crack
Oh and how can an old timer play 18 holes of golf on a hot day?
Next you will tell me you walk the entire course too !!

Re: Soooo...
I did play 18 and I did walk. It was a great day to do that. The course has no hills so that helps. 66 does not make me an old timer...when I hit 70 then maybe I'll start to feel my age.

Well you are a lucky guy Norm
I haven't been able to walk a 18 hole course since I was about 40
And after playing 18 last year (cart) I decided to retire since it was more like torture
But then I did go back out and play a nice course again this year and played from the closer tee's and actually had a pretty good day.
But there is no way that I can imagine playing if I make it to 66 or like my Dad did until he is 80
Makes me wish I lived near one of those par 3 "executive" courses
AND you shot a pretty good round.......one of these days I expect a 70 on your 70th birthday!
Waaaaaaaaaaa.....ok I complained enough.....sun is shining for the 2nd day in a row today

Re: Soooo...
Speaking of good games of golf... I don't have one. For only the second year of playing in a league (Mon. eve, 5:20 tee, 9 hole handicapped league) I am finally seeing improvement, for nothing other than regular play. (Can't get better unless you play at least semi-regularly)
I've never broken 100 for 18... or 50 for 9. But, my game has improved enough this season that I've collected money for low net 3 of last 4 weeks. We do skins on holes, too. Have won $$ for skins twice. I've found its a good thing to suck early, then collect $$ as the game improves. And mine is finally doing that, with the regular play.

Re: Soooo...
I played out of my butt yesterday. Normally, for 18, I'm shooting somewhere in the 90's. I'm also in a 9-hole league tied into my old work place -- we play every Wednesday afternoon. Been playing in that league for at least 30 years.
IMHO, there are three types of golfers:
1. The naturals who hit it straight and long whenever and wherever they play. Hate these guys.
2. The ever-learners (me) who slowly, ever so slowly, have improved over the years. When I started I was easily shooting somewhere around 115. After 30 years I've managed to shave 18-20 strokes off of that (a little better than one stoke a hole). Imagine that pace of improvement? It's like glacial speed in getting better! But I enjoy the walk, the buddies I play with, and the occasional awesome shot. Golf is the only sport we mere mortals can play knowing full well that the next shot CAN, in fact, be a shot that Tiger would love to make (I'm talking an approach shot, a short iron, or a putt).
3. The idiots (mostly older women) who have no concept of golf etiquette, who will never get better, and who really should just head for the 19th hole and a drink when they get out of the car. These people ALWAYS end up in the foursome in front of me.

Re: Soooo...
Yeah you have to be good at some part of the game to even have any fun.
I started playing in 1974
I don't like par 4's or 5's anymore and moving up to the closer tee is the only way I will continue playing.
I got several pars and a couple birds trying that.
putting and pitching have always been my best part of the game.
