Geometric Shape (my attic project)
Name this shape (you can use trig or calculus for area)
Yeah I know it looks like I can't draw a straight line with my cheap "paint" version
Believe it or not I actually cut a piece shaped like that out of some damn plywood for one end of a cabinet (part of my never-ending conversion of the attic into another room)
I did do better with a pencil and my skilsaw
Hey my house is only 9 years old....I should be done with all the finish work by the time it is 20 and I am..........old enough to live in Florida

You have one of those corner cabinets too? 1/2 of an octagon, we call it a bread drawer.

I'm thinking a piece of coconut cream or blueberry crumb is in order for proper celebration!

They probably used plywood back in the 60's

Re: Geometric Shape (my attic project)
I know you guys couldn't sleep without seeing this picture so I copied it for you all
Just wish I would have traced it and cut one for the other end of this 14ft long storage cabinet that will be behind the wall in this room that I hope to finish in the next 10-20 years
Since I will have to just try and draw and cut another one it probably won't be fitting perfect as that one....but then I do have a caulk gun
I actually have a bit more done but when I stop for the day I feel like taking a long nap

Correct magic.........believe it or not, there are times i have to go out on a roof and measure up square footage on different shapes of roof.
Them stupid architects think if they can draw it,we can roof it.

Yeah and I bet those architects only measure those lines and not the surface area using calculus
(I am watching Through the Wormhole on the Science Channel all day)
But I will stick to just 3 dimensions with my carpentry project
Btw I have a roof project I have to do here as soon as I get enough days without rain.
I have to replace the roof on the pumphouse tower building and the peak of the roof is about 20ft up.......each side is only 6ft by about 12ft (actually 20ft but part of the roof is newer)
Which means it isn't easy for me to even get up on that roof.
It is old style ceder with almost nothing under it but old worthless tar paper (the building is about 35 years old)
Ceder sucks after that many years......after I tear that all off and pull the million nails I will be putting down plywood-tar paper-and metal roofing that will last much longer and the birds won't peck holes in it again.
The north side looks more like a moss roof

Re: Geometric Shape (my attic project)
Ok now yesterday I started wiring outlets and a light fixture with a switch in the new room.
I had a roll of heavy gauge copper wire in my stash so all I had to buy was some connectors and a couple jigsaw blades to cut holes in the plywood.
Got the 3 outlets, light socket, and switch stuff last week for just a few bucks.
Installed the 3 outlets and now today I will connect the light switch and socket and the socket will just hang up where the ceiling will be one of these days.
Then I can finish with the insulation on that side of the room and then install the 1 inch plywood on that wall and the ceiling on that side of the room.
Then go back to finish the other side that needs some insulation still and the storage (14ft X 3ft) .....in the trapezium dimensions.......no wiring on that side since it isn't needed.
May change the breaker in the box to a 30amp
Then figure out how to crawl back behind the wall on the finished end of the 2nd story so I can figure out how to run the phone jack over so I can move the DSL gear over in the new room.
Of course the wife does nothing but bitch about me doing this instead of paying workers
Tired of reminding her the reason I have all this stuff here all payed for is because this mad scientist does all the damn work
Ok back to work.............
EDIT: Let there be light.....and there was....
Now back to fiberglass insulation
I will have lots of room to stash stuff......especially when I do the same thing on the other side of the room.......yeah that is a laptop way down about 4ft from the other end
