With Apologies to Edgar...
Once upon a winter dreary, football fans whined, weak and weary,
Over many quaint and curious volumes of lost Colts lore.
For while they nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of someone gently rapping, rapping at their stadium door.
“Tis some visitor,” they muttered, “tapping at the stadium door –
Only this and nothing more.”
Ah, distinctly, they remember, it was like a bleak December,
When, as with a dying ember, the light died out in eighty-four;
When, at an ungodly hour, treasures left in trucks Mayflower
Leaving bitter tastes so sour – left sour souls in Baltimore .
All those memories, records, trophies, dreams and football lore
Headed west from Baltimore .
But should one in this poem dare say it was all the fault of Irsay
Who owned the team and merely sought a stadium to adore?
Or should, instead, this little ditty blame the leaders of the city –
A suspect political committee – that Bob’s requests chose to ignore,
And in effect, gave no recourse but to open up the door
And say goodbye to Baltimore ?
True Colts fans, it would seem, saw the city was not the team
And chose instead to follow the dream – and cry “Go Colts!”forevermore.
While others sulked, and swore and muttered – found their lives suddenly shuttered –
“Irsay’s a bum!” they loudly uttered – uttered ‘til it became a bore.
“Irsay’s a bum!” they loudly uttered – as well as a phrase we’ve come to abhor:
“Colts belong to Baltimore !”
Now Baltimore has granted a haven – a new team named after the raven
Rants and raves and thrusts out tongues and dances wild dances at the door.
These purple and black invaders act as if they’re the east coast Raiders
And their fans, much like second graders, buy into all their hype and gore.
But in the midst of all the hoopla, Ravens fans still implore
“Colts belong to Baltimore !”
While in the Midwest for twenty-two years the Colts enjoy fans robust cheers
And set new records left and right for the franchise we’ve come to adore.
With Peyton, Marvin and Wayne in the dome (and on the horizon a new home)
Indy’s classy group of players allow their play to settle the score
While fans look east and give thanks to those in Baltimore –
“GO COLTS!" forevermore.

Hey Blue... you mind if that's posted here and there? Giving you (as Blue Shoes) all the credit, of course.

Re: With Apologies to Edgar...
Sure, have at it. Please note I've edited the mention of December since the move actually occurred in March.
