Re: Speechless
Prior to last eve's game, I was not on the FIRE CALDWELL bandwagon. Can no longer say that. I saw nothing from him last night that showed he deserves the job any longer. The players have to play, but the coach has to prepare them. Motivate them. While we're at it, The DC, Coyer has to go as well. His scheme wouldn't stop a good HS team.

Re: Speechless
I'd add the Polians to the firing squad as well. If Irsay takes NO action, then I'm pretty much out as a Colts fan. I cannot support them in any way if their organization feels maintaining the status quo is a good thing. If I had money invested in season tickets I'd be picketing LOS right now until some heads roll. I don't doubt the players were trying but I saw "quit" in them last night for the first time and that's on the coaching staff. Bring on Mr. Fisher....NOW
Irsay's tweet this morning: "Titanic collapse, apologies 2 all ColtsNation..problems identifiable;solutions in progress but complex in nature/ better days will rise again."
Hopefully the solutions in progress don't involve extending Caldwell's stay any longer.

Re: Speechless
And still I saw a couple players out there that still try.
Angerer leads the NFL in tackles and Delone Carter sure would have been a nice RB along with a Peyton Manning on the field.
A couple other rookies.
But the vets played the way vets are known to play when they don't like something.....like maybe the coach.
There is several coaches out there that could use a job besides tv.
But I can't see Irsay and Polian splitting up.
But then I also think the N.O. coach was a prick for doing that.
No reason to run up the score that high on a team that only had 7
The Colts never do that.
It was like playing N.E.
Maybe they tried to make up for their 1973 season

(Archie was the Saints qb that game)

Re: Speechless
Hell, Magic... they weren't trying to run it up... they were running the ball. The Colts couldn't tackle! Or they'd fumble... or throw a pick 6!
Fucking pitiful.

Re: Speechless
Well yes they did just run the ball in the 4th and one of those 2 TD's was from Painter.
But in the 3rd they were still passing to get the 2 TD's that made the score 48-7
So at 34-7 in the 3rd they could have just ran the clock and the ball and let the FG kicker practice like we did with our punter
But then I checked the schedule and since we aren't playing any HS girls team we should end up 0 - 16

Re: Speechless
You gotta be kidding me...
Polian: Caldwell is doing his job
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Sunday night, Indianapolis Colts fans watched their team lose 62-7 to the New Orleans Saints. After the loss there has been a lot of buzz about the future of head coach Jim Caldwell and his coaching staff.
On Monday night while taping the Bill Polian Show, WISH-TV Sports Director Anthony Calhoun asked the Colts Vice Chairman about all the speculation about Caldwell's job being on the line.
Bill told WISH-TV he doesn't pay any attention to it, but he understands criticism is part of the business.
"Anybody who hits a losing streak is going to be considered fair game. I think Coach has done a great job as far as keeping everybody focused. We play hard every week we give it our best shot every week. Can we play smarter in some situations? Absolutely. Can we play more efficiently in some situations? Absolutely”, said Polian.
“After the game in New Orleans he (Jim Caldwell) was the first guy in the locker-room to say listen, I think this is what we need to do to make sure we give Curtis (Painter) the best chance to win and we do the best job we can by our offense. He is on top of all those details. This is a difficult time for everybody. But I can assure you Jim Caldwell is more than doing his job," said Polian.

Re: Speechless
One thing about the Colts and Polian, I think they'll stay with the "company line" right up to the last nano-second. They haven't aired their dirty laundry in the press for a number of years. If/when changes come, they'll be swift and without preview.
I listened to the Polian Show and was not satisfied with his responses either. However, as above, they'll not crucify on of their own publicly.

Re: Speechless
I'm convinced that Polian controls all the strings in the organization and that he wants/expects/needs any coach to be his puppet. If a coaching candidate cannot accept that position then he won't get the job. I'm also convinced that most of the potential coaches in the NFL know this and want to have nothing to do with Polian. So we end up with sheep like Caldwell.
