Re: Blow Me Irene
My sis-in-law and bro-in-law live in Morehead City (I know great city name) NC. A few trees down and some pier damage in town. Seems they made it through ok. No power, but cell service works for text messages. They will fare better than their northern friends, as they seem to deal with this stuff every couple years.
Sucks to be on or near the east coast this weekend.
My other sis-in-law was supposed to be in NY for the US Open. So much for that...
Beautiful day here at the Walther Manor...

Re: Blow Me Irene
Right now I was SUPPOSED to be enjoying my first evening at the beach in Ocean City, MD. I have the condo on the beach rented through next Saturday. OC is CLOSED to all traffic and the town was evacuated Thursday night. It's in the direct path and should get the hit around midnight tonight. Sounds like the wind will not be too much of a factor but the rain (they're talking 10-12 inches of rain overnight!) could cause some really bad flooding. OC is about 4 blocks wide -- ocean on one side, bay on the other.
I'm hopeful I'll be able to drive down on Monday (me and several hundred thousand other vacationers). Should be an interesting drive.

Blue, with that plate holder, surely you'll get a clear path all the way thru to the beach! Especially in MD!

Re: Blow Me Irene
Its nice to have a generator
No electricity for me, we survived 3 trees went down across the street, so my neighbor and I spent the morning cutting them up.
My daughter and grand son moved to Puerto Rico, they were without power since last Sunday to Thursday from Irene..

Re: Blow Me Irene
I never even get weather like that in the winter here.
And I will stay away from the tornado alley and earthquake parts of the country too.
Only way I travel in the future will be by car so i can watch the weather channel and get the hell outta Dodge

Yup, my Sisters Island Dog Co, took off, she has sponsors galore, Pet Smart found out about it and agreed to pay a 2 person salary for two years and provide medicines and food for the animals. My Sister and my daughter are real close in age, so they have been best friends growing up. So the Sis talked the daughter into relocating, shes been there with my grandson for a month now.
The Mrs is taking it pretty hard, but I stand behind my daughter..GO FOR IT!!!

She's there with a great opportunity and money in the pocket. Good for her. She'd never have that opportunity again.
