Government Says Happy Birthday
OK, as of Thursday the 21st, I'm officially "old" . . . at least according to our wonderful government. See what they gave me for my birthday?
But, as they say, "I'm still on the right side of the grass!"

I used to sell those at 20.00 a pop, of course they were the 100mg, not the 25mg the dr gives you...I had a pretty good racket at UPS, viagra to Beanie Babies..

Happy Birthday!!
I didn't know yours was also in April......mine was on the 8th.
Hmmmm........let me do the math: My birthday is on April 8 and yours is on April 21.
That means I'm 13 days older than you!!

Hey!!
Unless something substantial happens here in Tucson on the work front, mighty_colts is headed for that nasty town in the Nevada desert!!
But if you can believe it.....I am NOT looking forward to going there.
Yes, after all those years of harping about Vegas.....I'm not looking forward to it. It's a nasty grind, I tell you. But that's where the big dollar is if you know what you're doing.....and I do know what I'm doing, but I didn't get there alone...I had help
If I go there in a couple of months, then I'll only be there until I build up enough bank to trade the currency and commodity markets exclusively. Then I'll buy land in Idaho and get the hades out of Sin City.
Is that a plan or WHAT

Do Tell, as Im a rookie on the Craps table, I just learned it last August. Is your initial bet on the Pass line? or do you play those "hard" boxes?
I usually play the pass line then drop more chips down depending on what the first roll is..

Re: Government Says Happy Birthday
A rookie, eh?
I guess you gotta start some place
There's no point in trying to tell you anything beyond the low-level basics.
For rookies, I recommend playing very low stakes with money you would normally spend on other stuff that's fun for you. Play the Pass Line after a shooter makes the Point, play the Don't Pass after a 7-out. Always take minimum Odds on Pass Line bets, and if a shooter is making point after point without a 7-out, raise your Odds bet after every other win until the shooter 7-outs.
Laying Odds on Don't bets is up to you. I personally don't Lay Odds on Don't Pass bets. I'm very conservative when I gamble. But if you are comfortable with laying out more money than you'll win, then that's up to you. I personally don't like that.
Place the 6 & 8 in multiples of $6, the other Place Bets in multiples of $5, but when betting the Pass Line, always make sure the 6 & 8 are covered. When betting the Pass Line, always try to have a total of 3 bets on the table...the Pass Line and 2 Place numbers.
I'll tell you one of my secrets: use an Up & Down progression on the Place Bets. In other words, after a Place number hits, "press it". If it hits again, take it down back to the minimum and start over as long as the shooter continues to throw numbers without a 7-out. This little trick will make you a LOT of money on a running table (warm or hot table). If anybody asks you why you do that, just tell them "I don't know, it makes sense to me". Or say you saw it in a library book or something.
So....that's the basics. And since you're a Rookie, understand that you WILL lose more than you win. But for Greenhorns, the point is play for LOW stakes and have fun. As the months and years go by, you will become more and more comfortable with the Table, and you will begin seeking information anywhere you can find it. You will learn and grow as a Craps player, and you will get better as your experience and knowledge grows.
Here's another tip: at the table, knowing exactly what to do, when to do it and WHY you're doing it is only 50% of the challenge. Another 25% is all about discipline & money management (the "big picture"), and the last 25% is all about how to properly conduct yourself at the tables (only experience can teach you that).
Oh, and never play the Prop bets unless it's for just a dollar or whatever. Those are bad bets all by themselves. I play some of the Props myself, but my reasons are totally different than your reasons will be. I recommend you stay away from the Props unless you just want to have some fun.
And one more thing.....when at the tables, never say things like, "Yeah, I know this guy who plays professionally in Vegas, and he told me some stuff"..........never say stupid things like that. Just play for low stakes, have fun talking with the other players and the Pit Crew, and Roll 'dem Bones!!!!

Re: Government Says Happy Birthday
By the way, Cravn....just that limited info I just gave you will make you better than at least 50% of all the other players you'll play with at the tables.
Another tip: other rookie players don't like people who bet the Don't Pass. The reason for that is.....they are rookies!!
I play the Don't Pass all the time
But I also play the Pass Line......it all depends.
