Where were you 12/8/80?
Myself, my Dad and a good friend were sitting in Bobby T's Bar in Baltimore watching the Fins & Patriots game on MNF when Cossell broke the news on the shooting & death of John Lennon, a few minutes later they broke away from the game for the official report..Someone from the back of the bar, hurled a beer bottle into the TV Screen, the dent in the right hand corner of the screen was still there 5 years ago when they closed their doors for the final time.

Re: Where were you 12/8/80?
Yeah I remember where I was.......I lived 6 miles down the hiway from where I live now.
It was the only place I ever rented and I was about to turn 23 the next month.
Earlier that year at the same place was when Mount Saint Helens blew up here.
In fact Seabird and his first wife spent the night at my place that night.
But yeah I remember the MNF game that I was watching on the lil 19in color tv that belonged to....my babies momma
I never miss the MNF game and that was before I had the satellite dish so I didn't get to hear the stuff that happened during the commercials like I did 2 years later.
I remember her father asking us if we thought this was a big deal like we were seeing on the news for the next week or so.
Funny thing the wife just made me watch a Jodie Foster movie this morning
Lennon was my favorite Beatle as far as music but he was waaaaaaaaaaay to hippy and Yoko influenced for me

Lennon had some good stuff. Not very much for my taste, but a few songs.
I never was a big Beatles guy. But they sure did influence a generation or two...

I was on a business trip, staying in New York City, but no where near Lennon's place. I remember the cab drive the next morning and the cabbie playing Beatles songs and talking about the "idiot what shot Lennon".
Interesting that iTunes recently started offering the Beatles songs. I thought Michael Jackson had purchased the rights to all their stuff but I guess his estate released or sold those rights. Anyway, I downloaded several of their early songs since they tied in with my senior year (1964) in high school. I know...I'm an old fart.

Mrs Magic isn't a Beatles fan but she is from the Class of 1960........something
When guys like Kurt and I were in HS it was either Led Zeppelin and Jimi or.......that stuff I used to light on fire hoping Cravn wouldn't listen to it.......and you know how good that worked
I have quite a collection of vinyl LP's in perfect condition from the 60's and 70's
Maybe when I turn 80 they will be worth big bucks
