I agree......and us old timers know when we see Bubba Smith and George Blanda in the picture.

I watched Blanda's final game and of course he scored points.

At 48 years old he kicks a 41 yard FG vs Oakland in the AFC Title game @ Pittsburgh

THAT will never happen again I don't care what player you pick.

I remember a game a couple years before that and Blanda is kicking for Oakland and they are playing the Bears and DICK BUTKAS kicked the extra point for the Bears.

I bet Ray Lewis can't do that lol

Blanda with the gray hair putting on the helmet and running out there to play.......what a GREAT life that guy lived.

At 48 years old he kicks 13 FG's and 44 extra points

At 48 he wins an over time game vs Atlanta with a 36 yard FG

They even beat my Colts that season some how......Colts beat them in all stats except rushing (imagine that) and scored the only points in the 4th for the win.

In the 1971 AFC title game against the Baltimore Colts, Blanda again relieved an injured Lamonica and had a superb performance, completing 17 of 32 passes for 217 yards and 2 touchdowns while also kicking a 48-yard field goal and two extra points, keeping the Raiders in the game until the final quarter, when he was intercepted twice. (Colts 27 Raiders 17) Unitas was QB in that game and later or course the Colts win SB V

Aged 43, he became the oldest quarterback ever to play in a championship game, and was one of the few remaining straight-ahead kickers in the NFL.

Blanda holds the following professional football records:

Passing TD's in a game: 7 (Tied with 4 others) November 19, 1961 vs. New York Titans[4]
Most seasons played: 26 (1949–58, 1960–75)
Most seasons scoring a point: 26
One of two players to play in 4 different decades: (40s, 50s, 60s, 70s)
Most PATs made (943) and attempted (959)
Most interceptions thrown, single season: 42 (1962)
Held record of most pass attempts in a single game: 68 (37 completions, vs. New York Titans on 11/1/1961) until 1994 when Drew Bledsoe had 70
Oldest person to play in an NFL game: 48 years, 109 days
First player ever to score over 2,000 points
Oldest quarterback to start a title game
Most total points accounted for (including TD passes) in a career: 3,418

AND born in Pittsburgh in 1927 is George Blanda

AND born in Pittsburgh in 1933 is Johnny Unitas

(also Dan Marino in 1961)

This is a one of a kind in the NFL Hall of Fame

RIP George Blanda Blandabust
