Does cashing a check take an act of god these days?

Damn... we have been working quit a bit of overtime here lately and I didn't have time to get to the bank and cash mine.. So I though WTF I'll just pull into one of those check cashing places and do it.

Geez how times have changed I guess.... 2 pieces of ID, they were trying to call the payroll department of the company (Now this is about 7pm and she can't figure out why they don't answer the phone)... then she says "well if you can give us 2 references with phone numbers and addresses and we call them and verify who you are and where you work then we can cash it.....


By this time I had been through enough.... I was just like "You know what... if you don't want to make the 3% off my check then just go ahead and slide it back under your little window, and I'll just leave a little early tomorrow and take it to my credit union." Then she acts like she doesn't want to give my check back... and acts like she is wanting to photocopy it??!?!?!?! I about went through the damn roof..... and said I was going to call the cops if she dared to try and copy my personal document without my authority and that our business was over and she needed to hand me the check back ASAP before I called the cops. At this she turned it back over to me......


Fuck.... I'll just take it to my credit union where they know me by name and be done with that shit.

Never fucking again.

Makes you wonder how people go thru life without an account.

A good number of my customers are pure cash... they don't have a checking account, I guess. Big purchases are done with Money Orders. I don't get it. But hey, you don't have to worry about the $$ or MO's, but I've had 3 checks bounce on me in the past month.

People come in and give me a check... I upload the payment and the company makes an electronic sweep from the agcy acct. Check bounces... now I've paid the damn premium. Really sucks... Then you get to chase the SOB to get the money.

I'm ready to say no more uploads, unless paid with cash.

In my business, if a cash customer purchases anything over 500.00 I have to run it thru insta-check. if I get an Auth # than its cool, but if I gt a denied # thats when it gets dicey..

Shocker send me those checks our little liquor store checks no ID charges 3%, but if a check bounces, he'll have a billboard with your name and address on it asking if Anyone Knows this Thief..

It works, we'r a small hick town of 5000 so everyone has seen each other at least once in their life time.
