hellyes

Well, my old Dell finally crapped-out, probably the mother board. I tried to boot into both my hard drives, but no deal.

For the last year I've been thinking about buying a laptop even though I don't need it right now since I'm not travelling......but I was still thinking about buying it since it's important to have a second machine as backup.

Now I wish I had bought it already bluehoo

I could have ordered the laptop ove the phone, but it takes a couple of weeks for them to build it and ship it.....and obviously I can't go that long without a computer. And since I want a specific configuration, I can't just waltz into a store and buy it off the shelf.

Therefore......I decided to buy a $300 eMachine desktop at BestBuy to use as a backup, and then configure my laptop online like I should have done months ago!! Then I wouldn't have had to spend 3 Ben Franklins on an entry-level machine at BestBuy just so I have access to programs and the internet!! sucks

But it's ok......now I can configure my new laptop (either a Dell XPS or an Apple MacBook), and then I'll configure a new Dell tower later on. That will give me 3 new machines so I won't have to worry about short-term problems. At that point, the eMachine will be stored under my desk somewhere only to be used in EXTREME emergencies lol

As for my old Dell......I may try to repair it so I can boot back into my hard drive, since there's a lot of info I didn't back up recently.

Let's hear it for the eMachine!!! clap

By the way......this is my first time using Vista.

Uhhhhhhh...........I can't wait to get back to XP. There is SO much garbage in Vista, I feel like I'm using a public computer at the library. I feel like I'm reading somebody else's mail.

emachine is better than nothing for sure.

3 Bens is ok depending on what processor they give you.

At Tigerdirect they always have these sales where you can get real fast singles and some dual processor machines too.

And they ship pretty fast.

The wife wants a laptop so we can use one in the livingroom while watching tv but I would still have to run a line from the dsl modem from upstairs where I have the 3 desktops running 24/7

My next one will be a quad core....or if they have a sale on a dual core with fast P4's

BTW they still have deals where you can get them with XP Pro instead of Vista.

But if you get a Mac I will have to warn you that I will give you shit on a daily basis lol
