HAPPY NEW YEAR BC PEOPLE
For some reason this gas station I go to that has 18 pumps ($1.76 per) started selling this fancy beer in the store connected to the place right behind you when you go in to pay for the gas.
So I had to buy this box that has 3 different bottles of Samuel Smith Taddy Porter,Nut Brown Ale and Oatmeal Stout and a Samuel Smith glass for $11.99.......the regular price per bottle is $3.59.
So I have one for tonight....just have to decide which flavor
Have fun peeps......I'll be watching all the big cities on the dish and the Space Needle in Seattle at midnight.

I forgot to ask you about that Cravn........why the light beers?
You afraid the other tastey ones will make you look like Tony Siragusa???
Or are those Coors light just cheap....and you like drinkin' a few a day?
Actually I just read now that they say a beer a day is good for you for several reasons.

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR BC PEOPLE
Ive been drinking Coors Lights before they we're even legal in Md, pre 1978..Plus it keeps me svelt..I just never grew a taste for dark beers..
But, we have a restuarant that the Mrs loves to go to, Du'Claws and they sell nothing but their home brews, I do like the Blonde Ale..
Price is not an issue, and no I dont drink a few a day..Im a Weekend Warrior when it comes to beer...

Reminds me of the old day when we would drink more beer than you all could handle (my record was 30 beers and still driving that 4X4 you have seen before back almost 30 years ago)
I would tease the guys for drinking cheap beer like Ranier and Oly and Bud
I would have my classic Michelob
Then in the 80's we would go try ALL of the ales we could find at the certain stores.
(we did this at lunch time at work since I was the supervisor)
Then a friend and I got into brewing the best ales ever and had contests to see who was the best brew master (it was me of course and I still have all my brewing tools here)
BUT the main thing we always said.......your beer is lager and looks the same as it does when you take a piss......and tastes the same when you drink it.
Hey I'm just trying to make you guys classy

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR BC PEOPLE
Classy = Bourbon (small batch, of course!)
Happy 2009 to all!
The bride and I went to a movie and dinner last eve (saw Curious Life of Benjamin Button - I'd give it a B). We ate at The Scholars Inn in downtown Indy. (for the locals) Now I'm not snobby culinary elitist, but when I drop $85-100 for a meal, I expect nice surroundings (got it - very "South Beach"), quality cocktails (nope - didn't even have White Zin for the wife - but subbed something else without telling us), decent wait service (nope - despite being half full at 8:00 we felt rushed, was asked for our dinner selections 5 times before we were ready, never asked if we wanted drink refills, brought the appetizers with the salads) and once the meal arrived - we never saw the server or waitress again until the bill was delivered.
Needless to say, the tip reflected the service. 5% - I think that does better than no tip at all.
All in all, we had a good time with the bride's sis - John, Bill, Cole, you met Deb & Gerry at the tailgate - and bro-in-law. Was home by 10:30 and worked hard to stay awake for the big ball drop.
Enough about me... what did you others do?

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR BC PEOPLE
I slept until 5 minutes before midnight, talked to a few family folks, and then went to work.
Isn't that great?

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR BC PEOPLE
Damn Mighty and Cravn you both need to switch to Rosh ha-Shana (New Years day on the Hebrew calendar)
The day starts at sunset for you old farts and that way you'll still be awake.......or not off to working the graveyard shift like in the 1940's
I never miss midnight and since I have had a satellite dish since New Years day 1983 I always watch the other time zones and in the 1999-2000 version I watched every place on the planet when they celebrated for their time zone since I found that on the big dish and it was fun!
(and was on ABC World News Now and taped that...another story)
Always watch NYC and take a few pics and end up with the fireworks at the Space Needle and always have one bottle of my favorite ale and at midnight since 1975 I.....well I won't say that here but umm....tradition man (no it has nothing to do with the women at the time)
We never go out like the rich and famous (Mr, and Mrs Walther) since my wife always falls asleep before midnight here and the last few years couldn't even make it until 9pm to watch the NYC ball drop
So I eat what she cooks and she always has a cake or cookies sitting there for me (wishing I would become a fat old gray haired geezer)
I sit and watch all the youngsters party on the big screen and don't freeze like I saw them do all over the country (once again shove global warming up your fat ass Al Snore....record cold temps again)
Now if there was a restaurant I liked less than a mile from the house I could probably talk her into going for dinner.....and then back home for her to fall asleep before 9pm
I plan on doing the same thing every year until .........the end of time
Of course if you all move to Port Ludlow and kick some of these dopes out then I would take you all over to the resort restaurant (3 miles from here)
And for those that can make it to midnight PT......I would have you join me and have Kurt bring the bourbon and Cravn do the BBQin'
(have to figure out how to get Cravn to drink Red Bull instead of Coors light)
Happy New Year

WHAT?
You aren't supposed to put vodka in your Red Bull man!!!
Since I was in Indy I got hooked on drinking those "Rock Star" energy drinks now (Red Bull costs too much)
I tried another version today.....forget the name but it says "Berry" and then "Caffeine" on the can so I guess it is a cold fruit flavored cappuccino!
Either that or I just sit on the couch watching tv and thinking about the projects I need to get done around here.

So THAT's what those were... looked quite scrumptious, sir. (and yes, I was starving as that message came thru...)
