On oil prices..
There are currently over 400,000 capped oil wells in this country sitting idle as we speak...
the reason why they aren't in use is because they are heavy oil, compared to the sweet light crude......
We have more than enough oil sitting idle.... the problem is it seems is that the oil companies don't want to to invest in America and cut into those record profits to do the neccesary conversions to bring it up........
BASTARDS!!
Also I've heard lots of folks say gas prices are because of the lack of refineries here.... Well according to the US department of Energy we already refine 90% of our gasoline right here the USA....... it's the amount of crude we import that is the problem..

and that link is from the US department of energy...... no slant or bias involved, just cold hard facts....

Re: On oil prices..
I wonder if it's true that the USA consumes about 22 million barrels of oil a day.
There are only two good things about high prices.....reduced demand and motivation towards developing other fuel options. But the real problem about these high prices is China......they subsidize their gas supply so it's dirt cheap to the public, who then use more gas. Those pricks.

Yep, unfortunately high prices is the answer. It's the only way we can get people to cut back on those gas guzzlers. I have always heard we have a limited refining capacity. Probably all those Green people in California that make sure it's unprofitable to build new refinery's and also make sure the poor Alaskains can't lease out their land for oil production. The oil in the ground up there makes the capped oil wells in the US look insignificant.
Think I'll go fill up my tank before the price goes up again

Nah SA.... there is still PLENTY of oil in those wells.. they just don't want to spend the money to re-invest in refining the heavy oils is all there is to it..... I mean they have a monopoly on the transportation fuel industry and won't a damn thing to change things until somebody makes them do it. I mean they might only make 35 billion instead of 40 billion if they did that.........
We have plenty of refining capacity right here at home.... the link I posted from the Department of energy confirms that....we refine 90% of our gasoline right here in the USA.. the rest comes from Canada....
They have been getting away with things forever now, they won't change until they HAVE too......
We are getting raped in ENRON fashion on a nationa stage now.

Re: On oil prices..
How about doing a little barter with Chavez, there he is shipping tankers of oil daily into Cuba at dirt cheap prices.

Puerto Rico came close the last time, but they still refuse statehood......
BUT I do know that there are already blue-prints for the Cuban coastline to be America's playground again as soon as the Castro's are gone........
BUT that being said I don't really want Cuba to be a state...... I'd rather just have it be a floating Las Vegas again..
