Hey Cravn.... strike in Indy...
Our Laborers local 120 here in Indy went out on strike this morning....
We all left as we soon as we saw the line go up...
Can you pass the word on to some of your teamster brothers to get these guys some help if they have deliveries coming into Indy?

Re: Hey Cravn.... strike in Indy...
Sorry 2shocker... but I don't get it.
Bad economy... people getting laid off at their jobs at record pace... construction business nearly at a standstill... and they go on strike?
What is their beef? Sorry, man, but with the way things are, not many are going to have much sympathy.
What could possibly be so bad as to cause them to walk off a job?
Lemme guess... now they want a better dental insurance plan? (sorry, just kidding... kinda)
here we go again...

they haven't gotten a raise in about 4 years for starters......
everything is going up but wages.....guys drive in from all over the state because they have to go where the work is... gas has tripled and they have families to feed.
and in case you haven't noticed the construction industry in Indy is hardly at a standstill with the billions of dollars that are being thrown around with the New Stadium, the new airport terminal, a new high rises going in downtown and the city HAS to add 25,000 hotel rooms before the SB or it gets pulled and goes somewhere else.

I haven't either... as a matter of fact, the companies just keep cutting commissions and dumping more of the work in our laps.
Doesn't matter what you do, it's all called work - and for 95% of us... it sucks. That's the lure of spending a buck to play the lottery...

I'm considering forming a retirees union for thus of us on a fixed income. I'd call it the IBURP (International Brotherhood of Unemployed Retired Persons). Our motto will be "Whenever IBURP, people chuckle!" Gonna demand something be done about rising property taxes, indigestion, joint pain, and enlarging prostates. We'll show'em!!!

Re: Hey Cravn.... strike in Indy...
Its the chicken or the egg debate, guys.
Should the employer get to reap the benefit of their labor of starting, growing and leading the company, or the employees for helping do it?
There's a fine line there, somewhere...
