Yeah when I shot the 1st one last year I asked a local hunter if he wanted it to save the fur I couldn't get him to do it and I also didn't want to spread the word that I was blasting these damn land otters since this is the Hippy Peninsula.

Both of them were big critters and I bet those 2 were enough to make a fur coat!

Real nice fur but shooting is one thing and doing the rest is another.

I just kicked it back in the creek and away it went.

Then a couple days later I looked up in the sky above the creek down stream and there was 12 turkey buzzards circling the area......I remember they got the one last year because I tossed it into the neighbors strip of trees between us and they ate that one.

I never did see them land and get this one unless they found it farther down stream.

Magic, I understand that you stock the pond and all, but the "thief" was just doing what he does. Hunt and eat. Your pond was his buffet line.

I've never been a hunter, so it always pains me to see any animal "taken out" for no apparent reason other than for doing what they do...

That was an otter, right?

Look at it this way, Kurt.......if rabbits are eating your veggie garden, then make rabbit/veggie soup. If I have fish in a pond and predators are eating my fish.....KA-BOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Down goes the otter!!! ramborampage
Down goes the otter!!! ramborampage

Especially if I rely on those fish for my own food supply. Some people raise rabbits for food.....they slaughter them by taking the cute little bunny into their arms, and then break it's neck. Then they skin it and throw it into a pot!!! Shit man.....I don't have a problem killing animals for food or to protect what's mine, but THAT is too much for me to handle. I'll shoot a rabbit, but to take a rabbit that you've raised, hold it in your arms and then break it's neck.....mighty_colts says, NO THANKS bluehoo

Oh, I gotcha Mighty... but I'm not thinking The King of Concrete eats the fish and he certainly didn't eat the otter...

I'm just not a hunter and I really enjoy watching nature.

You gatta thin the fish pond out, all they do is eat and lay eggs, hell pretty soon the pond will be overrun with fish if you dont let the animals have their way..

I think Magic needs a couple of racoons around that pond.

Nah these friggin land otters are like rats or like the crows that steal the food of others.

I never eat the fish in my pond since they are my pets and I feed them and all the good birds and ducks bread and sugar that I spend lots of money on.

The damn otters are famous here getting in everyones pond and eating every fish until the pond is empty.

Not gonna happen here.

I never have been a hunter since I still have no problem just buying the food at Safeway.

Those damn otters eat the fish and then growl at us and scare my ducks that have been here for years now (mallards named Tony and Sarah after the canada geese I used to have with the same name "Tony and Sarah Goosah" smile ) and woody the psychedelic wood duck.

The otters have a lake down the road from me that is a 10 acre lake so coming here in my 40ft X 80ft pond is not allowed.

I shoot them and moles and that is about it.......well except jackass trespassers ramborampage

The racoons here never eat in the pond since it is too deep so they would have to just fish the creek.......here they just eat apples I give em or bread.......until my bumpkin neighbors shoot the racoons themselves.
